This is the same kind of behavior that I was warned about 15 years ago when I would come down before moving to the city. Not a new thing for people getting mugged in the FQ, use common sense.
Walking down sidewalk with your wife after lunch, looking at the pretty things in the windows for sale...
BAM knocked out cold by a thug piece of shite who then steals all of your money and credit cards and drivers license, don't even have your insurance card to pay the hospital that treats your injury, 500 miles from home.
Stupid old man had it coming ... should have used common sense and gone to Charleston.

Chartres at Gov Nicholls is south of Bourbon.

Remember a few years ago when the "knock out" game was prevalent in shopping malls and on the street. Same thing if you ask me.

Rosa Parks place
Where in the hell is this?
Posted on 7/6/17 at 2:04 pm to wizziko
Rosa Park turns into Richmond Place. It's off St. Charles between State and Nashville.
Posted on 7/6/17 at 2:04 pm to wizziko
It is Rosa Park, not Rosa Parks Place. St Charles between Nashville and State on the lake side of St Charles.

With the amount of these starting to happen, it's starting to have a "gang initiation" feeling to it.
For the record, I'm saying this as pure speculation and have no data to back it up.

Those streets aren't gated. I remember stumbling upon them trying to park around Lusher one day
Posted on 7/6/17 at 2:10 pm to wizziko
Yea, Richmond pl is not gated come to think of it but somehow thought Rosa Park was.
Posted on 7/6/17 at 2:14 pm to ellishughtiger
They're both horseshoe shaped streets like Audubon Place is. They're is a "gate" at the end blocking automobile traffic.

there are still areas that are nice and have minimal crime. Lakeview for example.
Its the best. Now if those dumbarses would lock the damn car we would have virtually no crime. Hoping the Gentilly upward trend on the East side of park continues. Would push the night lurkers further out.

West Riverside neighborhood has uptown security that helps patrolling and they do a badass job
There are probably a dozen private security details in new orleans.
What I dont get is the $100 a year Broadmoore security fee I have on my property taxes...i've yet to see one private patrol riding around.

Has a nice hotel I enjoy staying at when I go home to visit. I've always loved NOLA and it has a warm spot in my memory. I'd hate to have a bad experience to ruin it for me.

If you aren't keeping your head on a swivel during your walk to lunch you deserve the beating you'll get.

None of them are gated. The one between Rosa Park and Richmond Place is Everett Place.

It was so funny the first several times you posted it, please post it again.

I'm convinced a lot of the NOLA hate on here comes from jealousy. If you're set up financially and enjoy music, art, food, festivals ect., NOLA is one of the best cities in the world. That's my opinion and understand the city is not for everyone. I've been here for over a decade, living in the warehouse dist. and now West Riverside and not once ever felt threatened.
I don't believe you. I lived in Algiers Point and in the Quarter for ten years. I stopped an armed robbery. I heard three gunshots that killed. I knew the people killed at Louisiana Pizza Kitchen. I knew the guy killed at Russell's Marina Grill. My purse was snatched fifteen feet from a security guard who was guarding a parking lot; he said his job was to guard the cars, not the sidewalk.
We know someone uptown who pruned a hollybush at the front of his property and found fifteen purses, no money or ids.
And that's just from nine years and the more memorables.

Exactly. Dozens of videos of black thugs crow hopping unsuspecting women, men, and elderly people from behind. Probably 95% (conservatively) of the victims were white. Who knows how many of these incidents were not caught on tape. These pieces of shite get the loot, as well as the satisfaction of hurting a white person. There is a common thread here.

As your typical tourist.... I can say I won't be back to NOLA anytime soon.
That's fine, but why make this decision now? The city was notably more dangerous in years past.
