The 218 murders in 2021 ranked smack in the middle of the number of murders per year over the last 50ish years
NOLA’s population was 593k in 1970
NOLA’s population was 484k in 1994
NOLA’s population was 391k in 2020
ETA: edited to fix the incorrect number for 1970
If the murders are flat, but the population is declining, then the murder rate is rising. If New Orleans had the same number of murders last year as they did in 1970, then New Orleans’s murder nearly doubled in that time span.
If there were roughly 300 murders in 1994, and 218 in 2022, then the murder rate today is only down roughly 8% from NOLA’s deadliest period. NOLA is on pace to well eclipse that this year.

I agree but where did you get that number?

Most of my family live there, and unfortunately, we will not be visiting them anytime soon because of the complete lawlessness happening now. There certainly needs to be stiffer punishments for criminals, especially since they can literally get away with murder at this point. Complete disaster at most major cities, especially NOLA, and it’s a shame since it could be so great!

I live in Nola currently. Not for much longer. It’s a shot hole.
Rename streets and not prosecuting criminals due to racism isn’t doing anything. Under Mitch you remove a statue in the middle of the night but weeks later the city floods including thousands of black residents.
Jason Williams let’s black violent criminals off to go commit more crimes against black people.
It’s regressive and you only hurt the community with this bullshite. The community is majority black.

Damn if Tucker said it it must be true.
Uptown, 2900 sq feet, off street, fenced and gated, should pull about 1.2

2021 was 210, this year there have been about 125 murders so far
Will NOLA reach 300 this year?

That house you describe in up town would be way more than 1.2M.

We used to do a long weekend every year in New Orleans. I'm not going there anymore because of this. Lots of folks from Pensacola area have the same feeling.

Not at all, but I doubt that he pointed out anything that isn’t true. Would you prefer NOLA presented with a nice sugar coating?

Could be what New Orleans needs.

I used to believe that, but not any more. We really can't address the issues without piling on political hyperbole.

New Orleans is so bad Mogadishu looks like Cancun by comparison.

Probably a bad example. Cancun has far far more murders than NOLA.

Seriously, if you really and truly think you can have a conversation with the people that have ushered in this idiocracy, you need your head examined.
The idiots in this thread will defend the collapse to their dying day because they have to follow their marching orders. As soon as you understand that their enemy is YOU, you will never understand their motivations.
Same reasons why you see so many on the left jump in the pedo threads to defend those sickos. Their ideology tells them that if their political enemy is offended, then that particular thing must be correct.
