New Orleans has more cases per capita than Italy

New Orleans currently has 585 total cases. Using a population of 393k it equates to 1.49 cases per 1k population.
Italy has 0.89 cases per 1k population.

Update/Correction: I'm an idiot and used total cases in LA with NOLA population. The number is actually closer to 1 in 1k population. Still more than Italy but lower than I stated.

I told you guys this last night. The real numbers will scare the shite out of everyone on here who lives in Louisiana. Mayo is dumping all the test results today for Louisiana and it’s going to be shocking from what I hear.
Doctors told me this morning that close to 90% of the patients now being tested in New Orleans are testing positive.

I know testing is lagging but these numbers are still crazy to me. If you combine Jefferson and Orleans Parish, there is one case per 1,700 people. East Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Calcasieu are one case per 40,000 - 50,000 people.

So as of last night the percentage of positive tests in LA was 28% but after Mayo turns in more numbers we will be at 90%?
The “I talked to a few doctors” crap is really getting old. Every podiatrist in America is being asked questions by everyone they run into. They feel obligated to give an opinion. In most instances it is an educated guess. Alarmist then spin it and eventually we have people here signaling doom.

I'd imagine the disparity has a direct link to Mardi Gras celebrations.

more testing in Nola = more tests = more positives
also this is an urban issue primarily

I think that is the Louisiana total.
New Orleans has around 300 confirmed cases.
Louisiana is going to be hit harder as results come in. Coronavirus was community spread through the Mardi Gras season.
