Louisiana as a whole will not be in much better shape due to JB Edwards. Dumb and dumber.
Yep. Just wait till JBE and the whore house that is the La. legislature get into session next year. They’re gonna frick whoever is left in this state so hard it’s gonna look like a snuff film.
Destroying our economy is bad enough, but just wait till our politicians start picking whatever bones are left over.

Nola was probably way in the hole before the virus even hit thanks to that idiot POS Cantrell.

Not surprising. New Orleans over the decades has created a revenue stream that is dependent on tourism from sales to hotel taxes. This isn’t on Cantrell, this is on the people of New Orleans who allowed the city to put all of its eggs in one basket. That didn’t happen overnight.
The State will be in the same boat to a lesser degree. We based our state government’s income on sales and income taxes. These revenue streams vary like a gamblers luck at the racetrack instead of something stable like property tax. It will bite us in the arse once again. We will blame the current governor and we will NOT change how we are setup. Then we will repeat another budget crisis regardless of who is governor in a few more years. Rinse and repeat, it’s the Louisiana way.

Like that has never happened before
We need a state constitution to fix our financial problems. The only problem it’s a new constitution would be written by the current idiots in Baton Rouge. We need to elect a strong governor who wants a new constitution that has f’ing business sense. Now you have depressed me because I know that scenario will never happen, thanks.

NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell painted a dire picture of the city's financial situation during an interview on WBOK Radio Monday, saying the lack of income from taxes could cut $100 million from the city's operating budget.
"We are anticipating a budget deficit upwards of $100 million for 2020," she said.
If the city really does stand to lose $100 million this year, coronavirus will have gouged out about 14% out of the city's budget, forcing cuts to programs across the board to keep the lights on at city hall.
What happens when you elect an idiot to run your city for $100 Alex.

All I know is that shite sure has gone to hell in a hand basket since General Lee came down. Maybe they should put him back up. What harm could it do at this point?

I bet a lot of cities and states are going to be in trouble after this. Think of all of the tax revenue they aren't collecting.
Posted on 4/1/20 at 7:39 am to fallguy_1978
Probably. But nobody quite plays the victim like the New Orleans government.

Nola has a budget? From the looks of it, I always thought they winged it and waited for a hurricane along with the disaster relief
No, you are 100% correct. No hurricane to pull funds from last year. Mardi Gras killed a couple people and it made national news, and then was the epicenter for Covid to spread to the world.
Their budget is non existent for the next 5 years with no storms.
