No it doesn't.
The 1993 EPA report that just about everything was ever based on (when it comes to these laws) has been debunked and proven false many times.

I wish. You see the whole Disneyland fiasco with all the cases of measles coming from there because of the dumb fricking hippie granola Jenny McCarthy worshipping parents in Cali that can't fricking vaccinate their children.
This. Don't get me started on those fricking idiots

People like Wink who don't want to smell like smoke.
The health reason is minimal compared to the annoyance of smoke.

And? Don't go into a private establishment that allows smoking, if you are worried.

Now we can still enjoy our favorite bars without smelling like smoke, and the smokers can still smoke at said bar..just outside. Everyone wins
except the fricking OWNER who would like to allow smoking in their fricking private business
it boggles my mind how people cannot comprehend this

former smoker here. i can understand a smoking ban in public and government buildings.
but as long as smoking tobacco is legal, if a man has the money and nuts to open his own business, he should be able to decide if his establishment allows smoking or not.
as a consumer, i can decide to either go or not go to his establishment.
the employees should be made aware at the time they are hired they would be working in a smoking friendly environment. at that time they could decide if they wanted to work there or not.

i really can't believe some of the posts in this thread.
it's shocking that so many people don't care about liberty anymore.

The City of NOLA has some regulations that are useless - I got a parking violation the other day for 20$ for parking illegally on the curb - I was parked outside of a parking lot that was 25$ for day use. I saved 5 bucks for violating the law.

Why do bars attribute smoking to profit? Would smokers suddenly stop visiting bars if they had to go outside to smoke?
Yes. Also letting a patron up from the bar is like letting a gambler away from a table. They might not come back.

What bars/casinos can a non smoker visit currently in New Orleans that they can enjoy?
Casino? Not sure. I don't really look for Casino's.
Bar's? There are plenty.
Edit:
I am all for getting rid of smoking in bars, but not through a law that fines people.

Some people can't fathom legal precedent or the fact that laws are often created simply to set precedent for future laws.
Everything is just fine and dandy

Precedent to take away all your liberties?

Yea, the non smokers liberties should be stepped on so smokers can smoke.

How people don't understand that the government dictating to private business what customers can or can't do in their own establishment isn't a issue just baffles me.
It's not a good thing that the incompetent politicians are imposing their will on private business owners.
Imo this and a lot of other things should go to a vote of the people. Majority rules, not politicians.

But non-smokers are given the choice to live with it or stay home. Now that the shoe is on the other foot are smokers claiming its not fair?
Again, that's absolute bullshite. There were plenty of smoke free bars in New Orleans. Soon, there will be no bars that allow smoking. How does that equate to "the shoe on the other foot?"

But what else would this law have been made for other than health?
look at all the people celebrating getting their way. that's exactly why this law was made. people love using government to outlaw behaviors they don't agree with. it's a societal "cheat code" when your side can't win the war on ideas and sway the market
