Jesus did call for each follower to love and help his/her neighbor, but he also established a church and the church community.

You can thank Joseph Bernardin and Ted McCarrick for the sad state of the Catholic Church in America. They turned the Catholic Church into a haven for men infected with this cancer called same sex attraction.
Awful. Just awful.

This is accurate. The Catholic Church has been overrun with homos. Just take a look at Fr. James Martin.

Ted Mc Carrick was criminally charged today according to Wikipedia. I didn’t know who those guys were. I read their Wikis and this came up.
It’s from the Boston Globe and behind a pay wall.
Defrocked former cardinal Theodore McCarrick was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy during a wedding reception at Wellesley College in the 1970s, making him the highest-ranking Roman Catholic official in the United States to face criminal charges in the clergy sexual abuse scandal.
McCarrick, 91, a former archbishop of Washington, D.C., who fraternized with popes and presidents before he was expelled from the priesthood over sexual abuse allegations, is charged with three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 in a criminal complaint filed by Wellesley police in Dedham District Court.
A summons had been issued ordering McCarrick, now living in Missouri, to appear at the court for arraignment Sept. 3. McCarrick’s attorney, Barry Coburn of Washington, D.C., said Thursday that “we will look forward to addressing this issue in the courtroom.”
Until now, McCarrick appeared beyond the reach of the criminal courts. Several men have filed civil lawsuits in New York and New Jersey, alleging that McCarrick sexually abused them in those states when they were children between the 1970s and the 1990s. But the statute of limitations has expired in those cases, preventing authorities from pursuing criminal charges.
And he was protected for years. Trust a priest? I wish I could. And I hope I never do.

I’m in a similar boat. I had this bad plumber one time. Terrible experience. So, now I shite in an outhouse . I left indoor plumbing all together.

It's truly amazing how quick y'all are to fully believe and trumpet allegations by personal injury attorneys in a lawsuit, if the target defendant is one you despise.
I despise pedos. The question I have is, why are you deflecting?

For those of us who actually read news stories, why does your link go to a story about face masks in schools?

No doubt about it, the sexual abuse scandal was devastating to the Catholic Church. At first, I hoped it was just a few isolated cases, but as time passed the reality of the pervasiveness of the scandal increased rather than died down. Having said that, certainly, not all priests are sexual predators. Many (indeed most) are decent committed Men of God who serve God and tend His flock with devotion.
Remember this. The night before He was to suffer His Passion, Our Lord Jesus broke bread with His Apostles. Numbered among those who ate with Him was his betrayer.
I pray every day for those poor people who were sexually abused by the clergy. I really do. But I'm not going to walk away from Our Lord's Church. I still believe in the validity of the Sacraments, even if those Sacraments are administered by a thoroughly corrupt priest.
It was Pope John Paul I (the smiling Pope) who said it best. Once he was confronted by a young man angry at the Catholic Church. The Pope listened intently to the young man. Then after the young man was finished spewing anger, the Holy Father asked him, "Do you love your mother?" The young man answered in the affirmative. Whereupon the Holy Father responded, "Will you still love her when she's old and sick?"
I love my Holy Mother the Catholic Church. I will never abandon her.
With that said, pray for your enemies. Pray for those who are wounded and who wound you. It's the way of our leader. Jesus the Christ - the Wounded Healer.
Ego sum, et lavit in sanguine agni, Amen.

It bothers me.
I'm in a similar situation. I became disenchanted with the Catholic church over other matters, but the coming to light of its longstanding tradition of raping boys and the subsequent and wide-spread cover up attempts sealed the deal for me.
I will never go back.

Unfortunately they are still getting it from billions in PPP loans.

I know my faith, and I have lived it, as best I could. Literally, I fed the hungry, clothed the naked, visited those in prisons and jail. Even mingling with inmates in their cells in a minimum security prison. I know Jesus, and He knows me. Have I sinned? Absolutely. But my greatest sin is that I wrote people off. I put boundaries on what I thought were limits of God's mercy. THAT is a no-no. But I am redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. He died for me, and you as well.
Having said that, satan is raging against the Catholic Church. Name me one institution that has lasted for over 2000 years? In spite of relentless assaults to destroy her. There were crisis in the Church before (there is a crisis now). Whereupon God sent holy men and women to purge His Church. Francis of Assisi comes to mind. There were other reformers: John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, Augustine of Hippo to name a few others. Jesus the Christ will NEVER abandon His Church. I don't intend to abandon her either.
Thank you for your honesty.

Fantastic. I lol'd
The prosecution of Ted McCarrick is a good start. Each and everyone of them should be criminally charged and required to register as the pedophile sex offenders they are.
