This is a sensible view and I would tend to agree. There are instances when guys like Rudy G took over NYC and cleaned it up though. Unfortunately, all for nothing.

A little bit shocking when for the past six months people have been shamed, forced to not interact socially, and virtually in-prisoned.

I guess a police state won't even solve the problems of New Orleans.

I agree. The tourists will be flocking in droves to see the suburbs of Lafayette.

Ok, I am ashamed to admit that this made me laugh, mainly because it's true.

Yes, that's the answer...let one of the most unique cities in the country just rot.

I don't know if you people just troll with these responses, or you are actually so stupid or naive to think this is an acceptable action. It's not.

Look how well it turned out for Michigan to let Detroit rot. Your people let a city that was so impactful to the development of this country turn to absolute garbage. Don't you think how nice it might've been if someone, or some group, had stepped-in to try to change the course?

I hope LA gets its shite together for a variety of reasons...and I hope NOLA can do the same, but I would never advocate for letting NOLA, or any city in this country, rot...as that is not what this country is built on.

And, if you think it is, then you are part of the problem...and maybe you should go somewhere else and rot.

Just look who has been in charge of the city and that's your answer to why.

It's not a good thing but crime in Nola is a far cry from what it was in the mid/late 90s. The population was about 25% higher but murders were easily triple what they are now.

One of the reasons Jefferson Parish (where I'm from) is popular is because you get to live near all the fun stuff in New Orleans, but get better bang for your buck/taxes due to more competent city government officials. If New Orleans rotted (like you idiotically proposed) and went away, the appeal of living in JP would be a lot less.

New Orleans has its shithole aspects for sure, but it has a lot of redeeming qualities too. And somehow the city has managed to have a majority black population without rioting the last 5 months.

To be fair I think this is probably true for all cities in the US, at least ones run by Democrats.

To be fair, you’re wrong. Our crazy liberal city hasn’t surpassed the number from 2019, despite all the cuck liberal anti-trump madness! Can you believe it???

Seriously, I’m not taking a political stance. I just find it amazing that people think that people who disagree with them are incapable of proper governance.

Well said, Rummy.

No one ever mentions that the Port is the deal with NOLA. In 2019 48% of the country's exports left out of here. That is a HUGE number. Sure, nuke it, let it rot... Idiots.

Maybe its time to let the Mississippi divert itself into the Atchafalaya and start New Orleans over?
