My network of DIY public and private land Midwest hunters did better this year than the guided hunters I’ve heard about. Maybe that’s due to outfitter buck size restrictions? If you’ve got some hunt in you, DIY is very doable.
Yea I got tired of my buddy's not wanting to go out there with me so I decided to go solo. Its been great, made some awesome friends and learned a lot. It so much better hunting out there than in Ga, the number of 140"+ deer out there compared to home is absurd. I doubt I'll draw next year so I'm going to look into a muley hunt somewhere.

Spunky,
Are you hunting with an outfitter? I have done the IL and OK outfitter deal, and I just hit both on a bad week I guess. I have thought about doing a KY velvet hunt or a KS early muzzleloader hunt to try to up the odds. Do you have any good names up there you recommend. Thanks
I lease land in KS, havent found an outfitter that's be willing to let me hunt as long as I want without a crazy fee attached to it. Rightfully so, its a business and they're in it to make money. Im lucky enough to be able to hunt majority of November so leasing has been my best option.

How many points did it take to draw Iowa muzzy?
Zero, I bow hunted up there last year.
I got lucky and tagged out early November in KS. Glad I did before the warmer weather came in and stayed. Going to Iowa after Christmas for late muzz. Pretty pumped about it.

That’s the dream right there. Congrats on a tremendous buck. I would’ve believed 190”
Thanks, when I saw him I was thinking the same thing. Biggest deer I've ever seen from the stand, been a long time since I was that tore up.
Last Sunday, yotes found it before I did..
Lucked up and shot my biggest buck to date. 172 5/8 unfortunately it took me a couple days to find him, but I got lucky just to find him.
Ill post a pic when I figure out how to.

How long are you staying for?
As long as it takes, last time I went out first 2 weeks of November then it got warm so I came home ajd went back out Thanksgiving night and killed the following Wednesday. I doubt I'll don't that again though, I'm going to Iowa for late muzzleloader and plan on staying up there a couple weeks too.
I just had something show up at the house that's going to make it hard to head west till he's dead or I get something equal or better out there.
