A teen shot a man he was trying to rob Monday afternoon, New Orleans police said.

Police responded to the shooting in the St. Claude area around 4:25 p.m. Monday.

A 17-year-old boy approached the man in the 4000 block of Marais Street and demanded his property, authorities said. The man said he didn't have anything. The teen shot the man and fled, police said.

Since it's New Orleans.... how long do you realistically think said 17 year old serves behind bars for this violent attack?

Long enough to process the paperwork and then release.

Williams will release him on personal recognizance. True NOLA style.

New Orleans doesn't try minors as adults, regardless of how violent the offense or how habitual the offender.

Part of the reason the per-capita violent crime rate in New Orleans is out of control.

This is why I often empty my wallet except for a couple expired CCs and a few dollars, when in questionable areas.

Then I can hand it over. Decoy wallet.

He dindu nuffin! The criminal with the wallet scared the victim with the gun and the gun accidentally discharged. Then the victim ran away because he was afraid of the wallet.

No other information, including the man's condition, was immediately available.

How exactly were they able to precisely pinpoint the age but obtain "no other information" on this perp?
