I don’t travel much, but I can tell you MSY is a shithole. Nothing contrasts this like flying to MSY from Denver.

Well yeah....if you compare it to DFW, O'Hare, LAX, and all the other airports which aren't even in the same class as MSY.

My biggest problem with the move is while I am rather ambivalent to the change, the lack of consideration of road traffic is unforgivable.

I travel about twice per month through MSY and it is great for Louisiana based travelers and we did not need a new terminal.

What is a dump?? The gates? no, The concourses?, no The new parking garages? no The new rental car center?no

I can get in and out of MSY in 15 minutes.

No way the new terminal will be as efficient for the traveling public. It is going to longer lines with only one TSA, longer concourse, further from off airport parking ect.

It is a boondoggle Mitch is using to pay back contributors.

Oh it might have pretty shops if you want to go to the airport to shop.

What are you talking about?? I have never stood more than a couple of minutes at any kiosks.

Long lines at TSA with too few total and too many incompetent workers.

BS too. You think a new billion dollar terminal with only one TSA entry is going to be better??

Bad food choices.

You have to be kidding?? Where else in the world can you get chicken livers and mint jelly in the airport like Pralines has on concourse B? Where else has lucky dogs? Where else has Dooky's?

Have you ever been through Midway??

Dirty restroom facilities.

Where?? I fly SWA mostly and find the restrooms on Concourse B clean. Does a new terminal change that?

I travel fairly frequently and it amazes me how much better and cleaner almost every other airport in the country is.

That is simply not true.

MSY from Denver

Denver is a big ole shopping mall it takes 30 minutes to get in or out of from the gate to the sidewalk. It is in the boon docs and it too was a huge boondoggle.

Oh it's pretty but is not as traveler friendly as MSY.

It's not pretty or particularly modern, but I don't hate MSY like others do either. I just flew into and out of IAH this week and much prefer MSY.

Some ridiculous shite in this thread. Nola airport is not noticeably worse than any airport I have been to for a city it’s size.

The haters want a shopping mall or fly the Concourse C and D carriers that don't have enough business to support the food offerings of Concourse B.

All are much larger and serve much bigger populations BUT I think we are lucky to have a medium size, easy to navigate airport that connects to so many cities.

I don't consider any of the big airports superior to MSY. They are all time eaters for the traveling public.

Flew out a couple weeks ago. SW had 15 kiosks, only 2 were working, and only 2 reps working the desk. 100 people were waiting in line and no effort was made to pick up the pace to get anyone through. A true NOLA experience.

So its NO fault that SW didnt have employees at the time? I hate NO, it's a shithole overall...but SW not having enough staff isn't on them

I can’t wait for a week after the new Terminal is opened-

The sign on the Lucky Dog cart will have the word “broke” in it.

You haven’t seen many airports if you think the current one is fine.

This simply isn’t true. I fly out of MSY 2-3 times per month and there are rarely long TSA lines. I fly SW and Delfa so I go through both check in gates. The lines are only long on Mondays after huge events or conventions.

I rarely have to spend more than 10 minutes in line at TSA.

I also like that i can park in the long term garage and not have to shuttle to the terminal.

All the shiny new places are much nicer aesthetically and I appreciate the conveniences once I get through, but the TSA line and not having to take shuttles are priority 1 and 2 for me.

They could build the most high tech, luxurious airport on Earth, and it would still be shitty because of the shitty caliber of workers on staff.

As with anything in South Louisiana.

While I can agree with this a new building with the same staff will not help the issues st MSY.

I probably have been in 50 airport minimum in the USA and I say MSY is fine for travelers.

If your priorities are low air fares, time, and parking MSY are great.

If your priorities are pretty walls, shopping and fast food then you might not like MSY.

No doubt air fares will increase as gate fees pay for the boondoggle.
