When the new terminal opens, will the current structure be torn down or will the new terminal be a second terminal?

I was just at the airport this weekend. Can someone tell me why a new airport was needed? The current one is still in good shape and doesn’t seem to have any issues. Seems like a waste of taxpayer money

Compared to what?
The current one is a dump. D terminal is decent, and will be left intact when new one opens. That said, the planning around the new terminal is a nightmare. Zero infrastructure to and from it. Traffic will be an absolute nightmare.

A, B, C, are being torn down.

D is staying and going to be repurposed because it was built with federal funds relatively recently and it can't be demolished for like 30 years or something.

Uh what. The current airport is a dump and woefully outdated.

I’d love to, but clearly you’re too fricking stupid to understand.

is this the one that's ready to go, but it will take a few years before roads are built to access it?

They could build the most high tech, luxurious airport on Earth, and it would still be shitty because of the shitty caliber of workers on staff.

Yeah. Typical Louisiana incompetence.

Concourse D is not the problem, a large portion of the rest of the terminal dates back to the 60's. You can only do so much with the older parts of it, basically putting lipstick on a pig.

Flew out a couple weeks ago. SW had 15 kiosks, only 2 were working, and only 2 reps working the desk. 100 people were waiting in line and no effort was made to pick up the pace to get anyone through. A true NOLA experience.
