Lawmakers telling us how to act is a joke. Maybe we should tell them how to act.

Or that the police can legally lie to you, that you don't have to hand over your cell phone (or unlock it) or pop your trunk without a warrant, that you don't have to answer anything an officer asks you. Most people don't know that...

Stay in the car until they tell you to get out. Keep hands on the wheel until they ask you to get license, registration etc. Be polite Say yes sir, no sir. Works every time

Right of refusal of search without a warrant,

The police will search your car if they want to. They will always "see something suspicious" that gives them right to search without a warrant. If they call in a dog, the dog will always hit on something to give them a reason to search. The law is completely irrelevant since its so easy for them to get around it.

How ghetto is your populace that you need a law to teach people how to act?

Again, and I may be alone here, but take some personal responsibility. Educate yourself a little, it doesn't take much especially with the internet nowadays.

Maybe some of the lawyers on this board should do seminars, to educate the public. Seems like an easy way to get some $$$ being that so many people are ignorant. $100 for a 2 hours seminar of what you should and shouldn't do. Probably walk away with a couple grand after expenses.

why the hell do you carry weed on you the majority of the time you drive?

It was an exaggerated joke. I don't carry it 99% of the time I'm driving. Pretty much only on the way to party.

It really boils down to a combination of respect and kissing arse. It's a fricking tough pill to swallow sometimes. But I'm usually carrying weed, so I'm? just try to get out of there asap.

I was in the same boat for years. Still act the same way even though no weed has ever been in the car I currently drive. I'm anal about complete stops, speeding, etc. My mom thinks I'm the safest driver ever. Don't have the heart to tell her why I'm that way.

I usually just turn my phone on record and ask "am I being detained?" Over and over

Are you suppose to get out of your car and meet the cop or stay in your car?

Growing up, that's the way I did it in the country. The first time I got pulled over in Dallas in 1983, I did that. The cop pulled his gun on me and stayed behind his door until I got back in and stuck my hands out the window. I had pulled off of Mockingbird Lane and was in the parking lot at Taylor Publishing.

Yep. I drive like granny, even in my work truck. The only difference is that my dad was the one who taught me to keep it low key. He got caught growing in his dorm at Georgia tech, and played it smart ever since.

depends.

`La State troopers usually want you out the car, everyone else wants you to stay in the car.

I was pulled over only by troopers the first few times. Then I was pulled over in Kenner and they flipped out when I got out the car.

Now I try and stay in, and if I get out I lock my doors.

My dad is the worst with officers. He always gets stupid with them. He never gets arrested but I always think he will.

He yells and talks crap and all.

I treat officers like I would if I met Jesus Christ or something. I kiss arse and never volunteer anything. I answer questions vaguely and do not allow searches or answer anything that could incriminate me.
