The problem is it’s a steady erosion of liberties and when these ‘laws’ keep getting passed, you realize all your freedoms are gone because it’s so subtle.
Compare this to seat belt laws and see which one prevents more harm to innocent people. If you die in an accident while not wearing a seatbelt, you are the cause. Yet, seatbelt laws are likely ticketed at a rate 10X that of cellphone while driving laws. I think that seatbelt laws are much more invasive than cellphone laws, but you don’t hear nearly as much complaining about the seatbelt laws.

Holding your phone in your hand - bad
Playing around on the TV-sized computer screen installed across the dash that connects to your phone - A OK

Playing on your computer hone while driving should be instant license revocation.

That had to be exactly what a person envisioned when thinking about becoming a cop

So a cop standing on the sidewalk where you can see him in advance and put your phone down is prevention?
Only way to see them so far in advance is to drive using binoculars like the cop is doing.

Cops here do a sting every couple months, borrow a bunch of school busses, put 2 officers on each side of the bus and drive around, noting and photographing drivers playing on their phones, then mailing the registered owner a ticket.
