In February, less than two months after the December 2024 incident, Lacy’s attorney Matthew Ory released a statement denying Lacy caused or contributed to the crash.

While speaking with HTV’s Martin Folse this week, Ory said he obtained an investigative report proving just that.

According to the report, Ory said Lacy passed four cars, as police previously said, but data shows he was more than 90 yards behind Hall. At the time of impact, he was more than 70 yards behind the crash.

“However, he was back in his lane of travel 92.3 yards back in his lane behind Mr. Hall. At the time of impact, he’s 72.6 yards behind the vehicles at the time of impact. Key [words] – behind the vehicles. That is not how this story was ever painted. Never.”

The original charges seem to be total bullshite, but I’m still confused why he ran from the cops in Houston and then offed himself.

The whole story is weird

Why was he passing 4 cars in a no pass zone

My thoughts exactly. The suicide doesn’t make much sense. And I’m not saying KL had zero blame, but it certainly seems like the narrative that he very specifically caused the accident seems like total bullshite. And the video of the officer persuading the witness to say in his statement that it was KL’s fault directly was even more weird.

Sucks that KL isn’t around to be somewhat (or even fully) exonerated.

With the video showing completely different evidence than what law enforcement portrayed last year this is the question you choose to ask?

Posted speed limit is 55 MPH. So the lawyer admits Lacy's passing in a no passing zone gave the oncoming traffic ~1.35 sec of reaction time (depending on actual speeds at the time) to avoid a potential collision. Hate what happened to everyone in this situation, but this bombshell isn't the bombshell the lawyer wants you to believe.

Watch video he was behind the accident. He drove around it. Person that caused the accident blamed him for the wreck to take blame off of him. Unfortunately lacy had a bright green charger that brought attention to him.

He had more going on in his life. This was not the reasoning of suicide.

That attorney is FOS. Nothing he says changes what happened. He's misleading the public and trying to taint the jury pool. He's
saying at no time did Lacy hit any of the other cars, nor did any of them hit him. Well duh. No one ever said they did. So why is he making a huge deal out of something no one ever claimed happened? He's misleading everyone.

Here's the initial State Police description:

quote:

The investigation revealed that the crash occurred as a 2023 Dodge Charger was traveling south on LA Hwy 20. The driver of the Dodge, later identified as 24-year-old Kyren Lacy of Thibodaux, recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone. As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the on coming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento. Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash. Troop C was later notified that Hall, who was a passenger in the Kia Sorrento, succumbed to his injuries from the crash after being transported to a hospital for treatment.

He's wrong and misleading everyone.

As much as it sucks, bottom line is Lacy was driving like crazy and caused a fatality.

Has anyone seen the video? I saw that 45 minute interview with the lawyer showing a still here or there out of the video. Was the video in there somewhere?

The 90yrd thing is just funny. It sounds like a lot, but two cars at 50mph heading towards each other have about 2 seconds before they would hit. Ain't much time.

Wish they had a view from overhead that showed the entire incident to include when Lacy is passing the 4 cars. With that you would be able to tell the whole story.

The lawyers job is to make his client seem as innocent as possible and people are eating it up. Obviously I am not saying he is innocent or guilty but that his lawyer is doing his job.

His lawyer is not a dummy.

I'm so confused. How could he be in front of the wreck and cause it?

I thought he was passing multiple cars and the driver going north saw him in his lane so he swerved. 72 yards at 60 mph is around 2 seconds.
Sad story all around.

Yup. 70 or even 100 yard’s isn’t shite when vehicles are coming at each other. Hell I start laying on the horn at 50 yards if I see a car just drifting over a center line on Highland. The distances close fast!

Guess how long a stripe is on a highway? Looks like a couple of feet right?

Well it’s 10 feet long. That’s you going in one direction. Now look at head on. The distance closes twice as fast just if going the same speed.

Until you get a recreation of what the cars who swerved would have saw, the video doesn’t tell the whole story.

No he is not saying that.

Wrong. If you get in a fender bender which causes traffic to slow behind you, and someone in that traffic isn’t paying attention and steamrolls cars in front of them, killing someone, is that your fault?

That’s similar to what happened. Lacy was passing people, yes it was an illegal pass. A guy going in the opposite direction slowed down as a precaution and a woman tailgating him and not paying attention caused a separate wreck, killing someone. The reason the gold truck slowed down is irrelevant. If he had slowed down because a deer was in the road, or if his car had an issue, the same result would have happened.

Did the deer run out of the Dollar General or the donut shop across the road?

Does the Funyon eating tailgater get any blame or she’s completely exonerated here?

The civil trial jury where he goes after law enforcement for wrongful something or other.
