Replacing pads are easy. Do it yourself and save the money. Rotors add a little more but I’ve done it on my vehicles not too hard

Very easy. Pull up youtube video and follow along. Not much to it at all.

Sounds like the service place is trying to make a fast buck, since you received much lower quotes for that vehicle.

If you can pull the tire off, you can change rotors.

YouTube it, just FYI some brake pads have inner and outer pads that are specific (f150).

I just had to get brakes and rotors done in the front of my sons vehicle and it was $600.
I’m ready to start learning how to do this shite

Not difficult! Youtube it. Simple tools and a jack and stands.....and a little time and beer.

Called around this morning and have been quoted $300.00-$450.00...

Why not just buy the parts and do them yourself?

If the vehicle is over 5 years old, having new brake fluid flushed into the system is a good idea as well. The pedal will feel like it did when the vehicle was new. It's just good for the long term health of the calipers and ABS module.

My son and I changed pads and rotors on his truck for less than $200 because we are men.

LMAO at paying a rando immigrant $800 to do that job. May as well have him come in your house and service your wife.

one guys brake job means just the pads

the next guy quotes pads and rotors

some shops like firestone always quote everything new, everything, thats why you get such variations in the quotes.

Pro Tip: No one is required by law to be ethical and/or give you the best price. That is why it is good to have a RELATIONSHIP in all areas of life with someone who will shoot you straight and give you a good price. An HVAC guy, a plumber, a tree service, a mechanic, a tire guy, etc. And when you start sending them referrals you will get even better service and pricing

Not. Just need good ratchet kit, torque wrench, impact wrench/driver for convenience, jacks and stands. Go to Rock Auto site to order parts.

Glad I changed the brake pads and rotors on my 4Runner earlier this year by myself. It only cost me $400 in auto parts. You're better off to just buy a good jack and impact wrench at Harbor Freight and spend 4 hours doing it yourself than paying a business to do it for you.
