fricking joke.

BTR could absolutely support an affiliated AA team with a 7500 seat stadium somewhere in or near downtown.

But that would require forward thinking.

I like it! And they could play "Eat it" as the runner rounds the bases.

Goldsby is as good as what the Cane Cutters have at Fabacher, though their newish beer deck above the visiting dugout is a nice touch. I assume the LSU guys will play with this BR team instead of in Youngsville now.

Better question and deserves it's own thread, should BR build a nice downtown stadium and try to attract a minor league team?

Question, are there any minor league teams in the same city as a major college baseball team?

I smell a BRAC supporting a 50 yr sales tax to support this team. Then BRAF will take all that money for a study to see if this team will be less visable at the baseball field by memorial stadium or peewee fields at Howell Park. Then BRAC will pay someone $1,300,000 a yr to manage this project and then complain there is not money to run the program and they need another 100 yr tax to keep this team here.

Exact same city or same metro?Remember some teams' stadiums or practice facilities are outside of the city that they are named for. But yeah, quite a few major league cities have minor league teams in their metros. Hell three boroughs of NYC have minor league teams to go along with the Yankees and Mets.

Sorry fans we have a short delay.
The Baton Rooogue stealers seemed to have misplaced our game balls.

Once the team steals them back from our neighborhood guest we CAN PLAY BALL!

Remember tonight is take your chance on getting your tires stolen from your vehicle night. If you return to your vehicle and your tires are gone you win. As always the BR stealers will have riverside towing waiting to help the winner of your tire stealers promotion to steal your wallet.

From the Baton Rooooge Stealer, Gravy Chambers, and the restless natives from our local neighborhood let’s play welcome to the jungle by Guns and roses.

Metro area

I was just trying to determine if a pro team and a college team could both prosper in the same economic area.

It seems several do now from the list provided.

BREC owns Goldsby.
BREC does very little for baseball.
Their ball diamonds stink.

No shite. PLayed on that field quiet a few times. Had to drag buckets of water off of it in the past due to the poor drainage.

Field needs at least $20-30K in upgrades for it to be considered a "decent" ball field.

Goldsby was our home field back in the 60s.
Legion A ball was also played there.
Back in the day it was better than the Box which was used as a practice field for football and parking for football.

BREC baseball facilities around the parish were worse. Howell, Perkins Road and the other smaller parks were not kept up.
