This must be the new thing. There is a proposal to start a similar league in the Florida panhandle next summer. It will be a wooden bat league consisting of mostly SEC players.

How pissed would you be if your teammates were playing in Alaska and Cape Cod, and you spent your summer in Baton Rouge?

Great memories of playing at Goldsby during Metro ball. Games had to be stopped while locals would walk through holes in fence to cross the field. Good times. Stay Gold, Goldsby.

We may have played against each other. Last time I played there the plate area was sand. Like hitting at the beach.

I guess you could get the team here on the contracted promise to build something new in 5 yrs. But at the end of the day, I would rather see all that effort and money go to a BR metro bypass/loop.

I think you are misunderstanding the economic impact this team will have. It is a college summer team. May have 200 fans at a game. A coat of paint and some grounds work would be adequate.

They will need 200 cops at the game. I give it one season.

I give it three games.

This is near the Chevron where an animal beat up a guy that stopped to get gas.

Who in their right mind would want to watch a game in a war zone if you did not have to do it?

I can see them moving to Olympia Field. Memorial Stadium no way.

BREC owns Goldsby.
BREC does very little for baseball.
Their ball diamonds stink.

At first I was excited about this until I learned it's not going to be downtown at all.

This will fail.

They had minor league teams come in before.
No one wants to go to a war zone to watch minor league baseball.
Instead of the seven inning stretch you will have the seventh inning duck bullets.

Think we played there for outer State Quarterfinal game. Rained out Alex Box so the brought a helicopter to beat the water off of this field. There's a huge slope toward the outfield

Better question and deserves it's own thread, should BR build a nice downtown stadium and try to attract a minor league team?
