How far away are we from shoes being able to do that? 10 years?

I ran pretty regularly from 1988 to about 2014 or 2015. I didn't have overuse injuries with New Balance. I did with Nike. I don't have any particular complaints about Nike - they were lighter, more flexible than the comparable NB.

But, I was healthier running in New Balance. Period.

It is all about the model/style, not the brand in my experience. I've had very comfortable Nike and NB. I've also had styles of both that weren't comfortable at all. I've found that to be true with all brands that I've worn. As a qualifier, I'm not a runner, comfort based on casual wear.

Nike makes great looking shoes and their cross-training lines have always been great performers, same with their basketball shoes.

I own a few pair of NB and they're comfortable but, as mentioned, most models def look like dad shoes.

Gimme Nike.

Thought about buying a pair one time but bought Hoka One One's. Pretty comfortable shoe especially running.

Nike Hyperadapts automatically adjust to your foot. Cost a ton though.

When I ran track/cross country in college, if I wore a pair of Nike shoes they'd fall apart after a matter of weeks. My school had an equipment deal with Adidas but we never got the top of the line stuff so what I could get for free were garbage that weren't comfortable. I eventually started wearing Brooks and they were/are fantastic. I'll never buy another brand unless they start shitting the bed.

I loved Asics. Nimbus model to be exact but they started adding $10 to the price with every new model they released. Eventually Asics had raised the price enough that I finally decided nope. Great shoe but not at the price they wanted.

I only wear vibrams. Always be prepared, you never want to be caught in a circumstance without the dexterity of your toes.

I made the same switch. I have wide feet and have to get a size bigger to fit Nike. My new NB’s fit perfectly. It’s like walking on a fricking cloud.

Most comfortable shoe made, too soft to run in though.

NB
Fresh Foam mentioned, very flat inflexible sole and the stitching in the shoe is exposed and irritating, don't like them at all

Mizuno

Again, was a good shoe over 15 years ago now they're stiff as a board, don't like any of them (ran in the
wave runner 2000-the last good model IMO)

Brooks

Good shoe and ran in Adrenaline after the Mizuno WR 2000 for years before transitioning to forefoot running and the Ravenna model

Moved on to On Running Cloudsurfer

and Cloudracer for tempo runs

Highly recommend On Running shoes for beginners to advanced runners

I do have these and only bought them b/c the were MAGA
