I’m an adult. I don’t steal.
ETA: I would be in favor of chopping off a hand for habitual thieves

I would loot food to survive if society broke down.
I'm not taking a TV bc I'm not a piece of shite.

I don’t see the need to steal from other people when I can afford to pay for whatever I need and for the most part, want.

frick no. Why would I? My default mindset isn't "don't steal" not "don't steal unless you can get away with it".

No. I've only heard of one situation where I might not feel guilty if I "stole" something. At the end of the Vietnam war when the Americans were being evacuated, they were frantically getting off the roof, via helicopter, of the American consulate building. An American soldier said he ran by a pallet load of hundred dollars bills on the roof. I always wondered if I would feel guilty if I grabbed a stack in that situation.

Probably back when I was a dipshit teenager.
But I can afford what I want now so hell no.

Hell no. I had a dad around to raise me.

Well we know what you would do... Dirty thief...

No, and I have tattoos.
Disclaimer, I also always return shopping carts and don't leave them in parking spots. My kids also hold doors going in convenience stores for strangers because I taught them right.

No. I don't steal.
Your situation is downright silly. If I'm in a situation as you describe, I'm certainly not going to stop and shop before leaving.

No. If I was going to be a thief I would want to come in guns-a-blazing, have everyone hit the floor and see fear in their eyes.

What's with the attempt to guilt people for not stealing from someone else?
Zero chance I'm worried about stealing in most of those situations you described. If I'm standing in line with something in my hands and shots start ringing, I'm probably taking it as a byproduct of fleeing, unless I drop it for the same reason.
If it's a flash mob scenario I find myself in, I'm doing everything I can to not be like the scumbags, so not stealing shite there either.

Even if I wasn't opposed to theft on a morality/faith basis:
I quite seriously can't think of anything I would want badly enough to steal it and deal with the guilt/fear of being caught. Anything super low risk wouldn't be worth it, anything expensive/harder to get (say, a high end watch, jewelry, etc.) would only raise the stakes and likelihood of being caught. I'm guessing that is part of the problem here - those who do this tend to lack a moral compass (guilt) and a vested interest in avoiding legal prosecution (fear).

he's trying to make himself feel better because for him this is a quandary but for the majority of the board it is not. Now, this board is probably better educated, more likely to be people of faith, etc. than the general population. It's a cesspool but it's a more virtuous than average cesspool, believe it or not

Nope! There are still honest people out there and unfortunately you are not one of them!
