Why don't you get him a DNA test to prove you're not his.

I won't let my wife have these anymore. She had a couple of rescue dogs and each yard sale we would get another one dropped off. At one point we had seven dogs. Also I was once told by an old lady the price of nice shirts at a garage sale is $.25 each?

My wife once told me she was leaving to put out signs, she was gone two hours.

6am was the planned start. I have people coming by and knocking on my door at 4 am. Do these people not have better things to do?

Dude, that's a given.

The last one I had, we were able to set it up inside a four car garage. I just kept the garage closed until 630AM.

Ended up with about 2500 at the end.

What pissed me off were the people who came back after we closed to claim they left something or didn't get back the right change. I told them to go to hell. I double checked each one on the way out and asked if they had it all. I remembered those two as well.

I hate people who do shite like that.

It’s always fun watching someone offer you $0.25 for a $50 tool

every time I weigh the pros (a little cash) vs the cons (genpop on my property) of a yard sale to get rid of my extra crap, I wind up ordering a dumpster

Nobody cares if you put that.

My last garage sale was 15 or so years ago. I posted it as an 8:00 start time and I even tried to tarp off my driveway to keep the early birds from coming back to my carport early.

Sure enough this old geazer shows up at 6:30 and tells me he's sorry if he's early and that he couldn't read what the start time was. He sure as hell read the address correctly.

And everyone has described it already. My wife's grandpa had set out a bunch of cheap plastic flowers and wanted .50 each. Of course some lady wanted to negotiate. I just gave her a few and said take them. I could tell she felt a little embarrassed.

An old lady walked over from a few blocks over in her moo moo. She said she wanted to flowers because her grown son that lived with her had just died and she was filling the room with flowers. Like I care.
I gave the lady all we had.

Now it's just too easy to sell on Craigslist anything with any real valve, although you still deal with some dumbasses on that too.

And we have trash scavengers who drive by all the time so anything you want taken will be gone with the quickness if it's out by the road.

I go for other people's good shite and resell it on ebay. I've made close to $2K this year doing that.

Trashy garage sale people like you described above (I'm not denying their existence lol) give respectable entrepreneurs like myself a bad name

And I cringe EVERY time when I overhear some a-hole trying to bargain someone down from 50 cents on an item. My self respect is worth way more than that...

I love yard sales. Throw some shite on a couple tables and a rack, have some beers, and people watch.

Also occasionally you can make a little money.

Hell I might do one next weekend

Always thought a great way to prank a buddy is to advertise a garage sale at 6am at his house.

Just to make it authentic, go over to their house when everyone is asleep the night before and set up a few tables and put a few random boxes or items on the tables--just to "tease" the early birds.

I happen to have maybe 4 coleman lanterns and two camp stoves. I also have maybe 30 propane bottles. Sadly, no white gas.

Offers?

Sounds like the reverse of Halloween when some dickhead 18 year olds wearing a Superman shirt and a varsity jacket as their costumes knock on your door demanding candy at 2 am.
