?

Objectively, I can see how the others could be bad for bonking your head too hard... what the hell does a gun have in common with the other 3?

Let someone who doesn’t know what they are doing fire a 30.06 with a scope. Damn near guarantee you they get hit in the head with the scope by the recoil.

I've probably done all 4 of those things in 1 day before.

I know for a fact that I have played football on a trampoline. Then went and got a gun and rode the four wheeler to the back of the property to shoot. Couldn't have been more than 11 or 12 years old and did that all the time.

The others are fine. Even football you don’t see hard enough hits at the peewee/jr high level to cause brain injury. Maybe a rare case here and there but you can’t take all the fun out of life in the name of safety. Too much of that happens today already.

It is repeated small hits over time that lead to CTE.

Why do people continue to defend football for kids? The data is clear that kids should not be playing contact, tackle football.

I disagree strongly

It doesn’t “frick up your brain”. Hundreds of thousands of kids play football every year. It has no more effect on your brain or body than a thousand other factors we live with.

That's exactly what I was referencing - the risk of eye trauma.

You also have to watch for icicles.

Substitute ride a 4 wheeler with ride a Honda TL-125 and those are my 4 favorite outdoor activities as a kid. Also baseball. And “ dirt clod” wars.

No doubt. Some people just love belt-fed media narratives that want to take away some of the healthiest parts of our society.

When they get in HS, its something to consider.

They’ve done studies and found that you can sustain brain damage without having any concussions.

Any amount of G-force from a tackle or contact drill that is large enough to shake the brain will cause tau protein to be released, this can cause long term damage if enough tau is accumulated on the brain.

I’m not saying that a kid shouldn’t play football because it’s their right, but there are definitely risks associated with repetitive head trauma.

I don't get why it's so hard for people to acknowledge that playing tackle football isn't great for your head especially at a young age. At one point people argued against having seatbelts in cars or having to put your kids in a car seat.

Also of course these Dr's say avoid these things because they probably see the most injuries from those activities.

This is such bullshite. If football was this dangerous there should be legions of spit-dribbling zombies walking around American streets - especially people my age. I started playing when we were still using suspension helmets. Common sense would tell you these claims are garbage.
