It's a slippery slope to say it was some kind of biological urge.
Its too many people watching Dexter and assuming that is a reasonable explanation... as if there could be a "good" serial killer.

Well, think about it, 99.99999...% of people aren't going around murdering people en masse. So there's a screw loose somewhere, I'm not saying that people aren't capable of incredible depravity, because history has shown that we're all too willing to fall back on our basic animalistic urges. Almost all are capable though of controlling the urges.
Think about somebody like John Wayne Gacy, the only way he could get off was by murdering people. Every time he ejaculated, it was when he strangled somebody.
Or Jeffrey Dahmer, same thing, he'd black out, ejaculate and then eat the person later on in his rampage.
You don't think that with those people there is obviously something incredibly wrong in their makeup?

We just finished it up Monday night. Really scary how he was able to go on killing over and over like that.
One thing that series makes me wonder though is what was it about the 70s that made so many serial killers? I know there were serial killers before then and even today. But it seems that there was some sort of spike in serial killers at that time. I wonder why?

Last Podcast on the Left did a couple episodes on him. Really interesting. He was kind of a Bundy type, good looking, charming, etc.

In this series one of the agents who interviewed him said he did finally admit to practicing necrophilia with the corpses. I think it was in the final days before his execution.

It's bizarre to me the kid gloves they use when talking about his murders when no other killer that I'm familiar with gets that treatment.
Right, for example. They found one of the girls in the sorority house with severe bite marks on her arse, her nipple almost bitten off, a can of hairspray rammed up her vagina, and her head bashed in.
Kinda weird how they skip out on all the details, it's almost like they want you to like him, or relate to him or something.

The "groupies" during the trial were disturbing as hell, too. Did they have any CLUE what that sick evil bastard would have done to them??

the 50s through 80s were the perfect time for serial killers due to the technology or lack thereof
they had enough technology to be able to link murders, which they couldn't really do in the past
but they didn't have enough technology to solve and catch serial killers as quickly as they can today, which is why serial killers/psychopaths choose the mass shooting path today

There was a woman who attended his trial in Florida. I think he knew her from Washington. She was infatuated with him. After his first trial for the FSU murders she also attended his trial for her murder of a 12 year old girl. It was at this trial where he, acting as his own council, called her to the witness stand and asked her to marry him. She accepted his proposal.
After he was sent to death row she’d come to visit him. And even though they were not granted conjugal visits they still managed to hook up and she got pregnant, which they were trying to do. Ironically they had a daughter...

True. I just find it ironic that this monster who killed so many girls then had a daughter while sitting on death row for killing so many girls. Makes me wonder if having a daughter ever made him reflect on all the harm he’d caused all those other women. I doubt it. But who knows?

Do they have a lot of his football games on tape from when he was in High School? I heard he scored a bunch of td's at Polk High, and was a stud out there. Shame what happened to him later, selling shoes and the rest

It is 100% clear that you have never had to deal with anyone with mental illness in your life and I don’t say that condemningly either. You are truly blessed to be ignorant to mental illness.
Even lesser mental illnesses like anxiety are completely irrational to the average person but are completely uncontrollable to the person it affects.
People with mental illness get urges to do all kinds of things they can’t control. Most of the time it’s harnless to others (like pulling their hair out) but sometimes their urges are much more evil like Ted Buddy.
It doesn’t take away the fact that he is an evil POS but he definitely had uncontrollable urges to kill.

I watched the Bundy tapes, and yes, it is frightening.
One serial killer who sticks in my head is Patrick Mackay. British serial killer in the '70s. I think it is this picture in particular that freaks me the hell out.
