Only answer is to sit in the backyard and wait on the dogs to get through the fence and shoot them once they’re in your yard.

Kind of what I'm afraid of. I'm hoping to avoid that.

Unless she gets rid of the dogs, you’re going to have to do it yourself. They’re obviously highly aggressive from what you’ve said. Nothing is going to change that about them. Anytime they see your GF or her dog in your back yard their instinct is going to kick in and they’ll do everything they can to get through that fence and get to them.

You know how this always ends.

It's actually been productive, but thanks for your input.

See above.

It may come to that, but I'd rather not kill the dogs if I don't have to.

You need to bait the dog into your backyard and then light him up.

Then put your house on the market.

Why would you move next door to a person that owns pitbulls? Stupid move on your part.

Put an electric fence where they keep trying to get in or go to the fence and when the dog sticks his head under it, spray that fricker with mace or 000 buckshot.

my suggestion is to talk to the neighbor again and let her know what happened, and let her know "i will protect my girlfriend and my dogs at all costs" which is very clearly saying "i will kill your dog if it comes into my yard." she will get the picture and probably not leave them outside alone anymore. just be polite about it.

What do you want them to do? Have a talk with their dogs about respecting boundaries?

Either a dachshund, your girlfriend or a pitbull is going to die. Your choice.

It’s a shame but it will continue due to the PB’s instinctual “kill and maul” drive. It won’t end happy for you/GF or the neighbor. Either your doxies or,the PBs will be killed somehow. Sorry.

A few years back a back in my neighborhood, 2 PBs were seen dragging a dead (chewed to death) Basset Hound back to their house. They escaped and went hunting. The Basset had been let out to potty while the 2 PB’s broke through their fence to go wander about.

Cayenne won't hurt your dogs. They will very quickly learn to stay away from it. I trained a dog using it many years ago. Not sure how effective it would be on the neighbor's dogs either though. If they dig under the fence, they will likely disperse the pepper enough that it won't bother them.

To keep them from getting THRU the fence, you could install some heavy gauge wire fence on your side, just along that common stretch. I know you shouldn't have to do that, but it may be a good precaution. Preventing them from digging under is going to be tougher.

You could also report to your

HOA

And then go to the HOA board meeting.

My dogs would not go in the back yard until this is cleared up (I have a full dachshund and a mixed dachshund).

I’d talk to the neighbor one more time and tell her if they get into your yard, they will be injured or killed. This provides a fair warning.

Then wait. I wouldn’t even both with my pistol, I would keep my .270 at the back door until this all unfolded.

If you want a temporary solution that doesn't involve killing your neighbors dogs...

You need to drive rebar into the ground where the neighbor dogs are coming through.
