Lots of southerners claim to hate or cannot stand coming here. Especially that way down south guy on here. Yet they all keep coming back! Hate NOLA? Stay at home brahs! It’s flawed but it ain’t a bad place to be.

Friend,

It’s America’s greatest city, and the only cities in conversation with it are New York, Rome, Paris, Florence, D.C., Tokyo, Geneva, Jerusalem, San Francisco, and Edinburgh.

Yours,

Oh boy. If your jimmies get this rustled over a New Orleans bashing thread, this board may not be the place for you.

IMO, it's a great place to visit for a few days, especially during winter. But I'm over it after a long weekend. And since I've been there a lot when I lived in Louisiana, it's not really on the radar for weekend getaways anymore.

I could probably live anywhere in the country if I wanted to. There are a handful of communities in Louisiana that I would move to....New Orleans isn't one of them. The older I get, the more I value space, safety, low taxes, and family.

It's not just southerners.

I lived in New Orleans for ~5 years, and IMO, it's a better place to live than visit.

But, having kids makes it a bit tougher to deal with.

That being said, we haven't ruled out moving back in the future if certain opportunities arise.

Nola's only redeeming quality is that it has a lot of places within walking distance of each other where you can get fricked up.

With Latoya killing that, what's left?

I only go to NOLA for something like a concert.

Other than that I only go to that shithole if I have to.

I used to go to Nola 2 times a week. I haven’t been in about 3 years other than maybe a concert and the airport. It’s a dying city with a seriously debased population . Sorry .

it's not just like a "culture" thing alone. it's expensive as frick to live there and the government is a complete shite show

you weigh costs and benefits (of my brain) and Nola just comes out VERY heavy on the "costs" side

Seconded.

Can't speak to that directly, but we have an exit plan when that time arises. $6-10k for elementary school is insane.
