This is exactly what I'm talking about. You have some ridiculous thought in your mind that the words "model program" signify something other than the obvious intended meaning. The task force model program is clearly a partnership arrangement where local officers can enforce some aspects of federal immigration law if the local municipality elects to participate. When the local officer identifies himself as part of the "ICE task force," it's patently obvious that he is asserting the legal basis for his authority to conduct immigration enforcement in accordance with 287G (which his municipality has decided to take part in).
The "task force model" wording is merely to distinguish it from the other models such as the one where the municipality only agrees to hold detainees for ICE, etc.
The only possible other line of reasoning I can imagine is that you think maybe the local police department has issued internal orders or memoranda defining exactly which of their officers are allowed to do the immigration enforcement. For example, "only officers with 5+ years of experience and no disciplinary record are allowed to participate in the ICE task force." Of course there is zero way anyone in this thread could possibly know the specifics of the internal directives of the police department in your random little town in God knows where.
This is why no one here can understand WTF you are trying to ask. It doesn't make any sense to anyone but you, and yet you still think we are the ones being dense.

Usually when someone is looking for legal advice or advice in general and their questions are vague and confusing, it’s because they are not being entirely transparent and are fishing for a specific response.

You see this kind of thing all the time in practice. You can see exactly what is happening here. He's already said he's calling Homeland Security, ICE, and the United Nations on Monday to get to the bottom of this dastardly scandal/conspiracy. Some poor receptionist is about to have to buzz her boss and say "hey, I'm so sorry but I've got another one on the line..." And no one will have a damn clue why he cannot get it through his head that the "task force model program" and "ICE task force" are essentially the same thing.
Unless this particular officer was excluded from being part of the task force by either the qualification requirements of 287G or by his bosses (something that none of us could know), then no shite the guy could legitimately state that he was part of the ICE task force.
He cooked up some retarded semantic argument workaround in his head and is trying to get it affirmed by those with legal experience.
My favorite part is how he characterized his query as just needing "quick" legal advice.
Rouses has a "50% off" store wide sale this week. But the ribeyes I was looking at say "half off." Does that mean these steaks are not included in the store wide sale???

Hello all. And Happy Bastille day... Time to celebrate another day of life.
But first, I wanted to give everyone an update on the situation and say Thank You, to those of you that took the time to make an honest reply...
I just say this.. Kids today just don't understand the struggles. Back in my day we had AOL and it took hours to call someone a dummy. By Gosh.. We had Sarcasm before Snarkasm.
Yesterday July 13, 2026
1. ICE Contact Numbers... Pretty much non- existent. No Wait time.. As it just Rings and rings and rings... All their numbers... Not just one. All of them.. One was disconnected... (Sarcasm)... But bottom line was Ice via phone contact was pretty much non existent. But I am a boomer. I'm gonna call my lawyer on it.
2. Metro PD .. Understands the Police and City Administration that we operate under and is frustrated at the amount of Improper procedures and foul ups. Advice Given and Noted in Proper Channels of Investigations.
3. Sheriff's Dept... It is a matter of Semantics. If a Municipality participates in Ice Programs then by association through the municipality is he connected with Ice. Is he member of the ICE Task Force? - NO. But he may be called to assist an ICE Task force if one is needed. And he shouldn't be opening his mouth.
4. Lawyers on my phone.. Hey, good to talk to you.. I don't know the answer to that question, but I'll look it up and get back to you.. How's that sound.. Oh... That retainer.. We need to square up.. Thanks.. Bye. I'm Criminal btw...
5. Internet.. TD.com... The OT: You're a Cotten headed Ninnie Muggins... Where's the girls?
6. Me... Lets watch sales records from said date in question...
Do we have enough to sue the city.. Gosh No.. Just another page in the file. If judgement was based on personal Opinion I would have won years ago.
Takes many pieces of the puzzle to solve... Not just one, but many over time... and I don't even like puzzles. Just Evidence.
But the answer is NO... He is NOT a member of the Ice Task Force.

I'll tell ya what buddy..
I'll pay a third lawyer to examine this...$100 per hour.
But.. Imma pay my lawyer to pull the contract between the city and the Dept of Homeland security and get to the bottom of exactly what my patrolman's responsibility will be should an ICE tack force be brough in.
I will also be prepared against any complaints that my people are not legally documented with the USA and my state, so I will be prepared by an Immigration lawyer.
I will also start working on media involvement which my municipality loves.. They are already a joke.
Yet I would rather live peacefully... Than have a total disruption in life, because a police officer from lower position decided try and embellish his position on the Internet ...
The Answer is NO... He is NOT part of The ICE Task Force. He is just an associate officer in the program should The Ice Task force be called in. He does have authority to deal with ICE from a routine patrolman's position.
Case Closed.

Are you getting this from anyone besides the Sheriff?
Forget for a second about the term he used when announcing himself as that can have different meanings when becoming a Task Force Officer, but is he currently a Task Force Officer under ICE’s Task Force Model?
At least one of the officers has to become a TSO, or they will need to change programs or just go with cooperation. They are listed as participating meaning even if not yet approved by ice and trained by ICE someone has to have been nominated by now.
If he got nominated to become one but is still awaiting acceptance and training he may have just blown his chances.
If he wasn’t even picked to become one he broke the law, but in the end unless the department drops out of the Task Force program there will be one or more officers as Task Force Officers under ICE’s program. You would just be trading one for the other of its not this guy.
It is also possible some of the hispanics are mixing up Task Force program with the surges seen in Minnesota and elsewhere.

The department in question does participate in the 287g program, so you're exactly right. It's semantics at this point. Someone in that department has authority to enforce immigration laws.
