First of all, the biggest secondary danger from a burn is the risk of infection. The first being the burn of course. The skin is the organ that keeps shite on the outside from getting inside. You have gone and messed that up. So keeping it clean and dressed (protected from outside ooey gooey with clean/sterile bandages) is critical. That being said, you double screwed up by not only burning your hand (bad) but burning it at a joint (double bad). The concern being that scar tissue forms and restricts your range of motion. Not something you want at the junction of your opposable thumb. For this, I would go see a doctor who is a specialist in burn wound care and get his opinion. I am likely being conservative but this is the internet, I can't tell a ton from that picture and as I pointed out above better safe than sorry with the location. If this was on the middle of your forearm I might counsel differently.
BTW, did I say file a Workmans Comp report? Because you better. This could get expensive if they start talking skin graft.

Bought me ointment and bandages and paid for a visit to an urgent care. UC only told me to keep it wrapped up and cool

please elaborate
mostly a joke
apparently honey being used on wounds is pretty common
for that burn he should probably use something a little more medical grade and a little less delicious

Seriously, if this happened at work you should have filed a worker's comp claim. Then you should see a doctor on their dime and their time. Never take a work related incident lightly. If you don't file anything and it gets infected, the company will say you did it at home and it is your responsibility. The old addage of better safe than sorry applies here. Get a file started and get to the doctor.

As the great attorney Jackie Chiles would say:
Jackie C.: You put the balm on? Who told you to put the balm on? I didn't tell you to put the balm on. Why'd you put the balm on? You haven't even been to see the doctor. If your gonna put a balm on, let a doctor put a balm on.
Kramer: I guess I screwed up huh Jackie?
JackieC: Your damn right you screwed up!

Worker Comp claims are not going to help if you didn't file soon after the injury. It won't help if you've been doing any drugs. First thing they're going to do is drug test you. If it comes back positive, you'll never get any help from insurance. If you try to file later, the insurance will claim you were under the influence and waited to get a clean report. Either way...if you've been on anything, you won't get any help from WC.

Tape an aspirin to it and walk it off.

If you can pass a drug test - Workman's comp should take care of that for you.
ETA: I think you only have 48 hours to report it, though...

Just noticed posts above.
