Rear Tine Rototiller Suggestions
Posted by Dixie on 4/15/24 at 2:46 pm
I need to buy a rear tine tiller for a 40x40 garden I am planting. Anyone happy with a particular brand they have had experience? I like the DR PRO XLDRT Model and it's available now for $850.00.

I know the concessions at the athletic events are cashless...but are all the fast food and other retail outlets cashless too?

Anyone else having issues connecting to the Live TV on Sprctrum.net? I can use the "On Demand" site to stream shows, and all my other streaming sites are working fine. Just this site continues to buffer.
USM throwing Tanner Hill vs Hilliard. This might be tough first 7 innings. He threw 109 pitches on Friday night vs Army.
re: Why is the Fairgrounds Clubhouse closed for the year?

I took our family for Thanksgiving day. Spoke with a few of the managers. They could have sold more tables, but couldn't get the staff. That is why they made the decision to just keep it closed for the season. I also spoke with a few of the old time waiters, and they are pretty upset about the closing too.
Where is the best place to purchase live oaks?
Posted by Dixie on 9/20/21 at 1:21 pm
I had to take a tree line down on my property. I'd like to replace the trees with 2 live oaks and some azaleas. Where is the best place to purchase a couple of 100 gallon live oak?

This tree might be 100% on your neighbors property...but, if you have determined that the tree (which hasn't yet fallen into your house) will fall into your house, then it is your responsibility to mitigate any future damage from the tree. Even if it fell tomorrow or next year...your insurance company would not cover it because you are aware of the danger.
Offer to split the cost with your neighbor to keep the peace and to get the potential hazard removed.

I know it's controversial to say "Old Mandeville" for some reason...but, McClain's Pizzeria has a really great crust and some pizza oven I've never seen before. Good stuff, and even better when McClain is spinning the dough.
Grandma's Eucalyptus Tree
Posted by Dixie on 1/18/21 at 1:02 pm
Growing up in NOLA, my grandmother had a big eucalyptus tree in the back yard. Anyone know if variety matters in the NOLA/Northshore area when choosing a tree? Any suggestions on prep of the area and growing needs?

That's a pretty short list of stores that black people in NOLA are approved to shop at...

I'm just going to use my USAA buying service price...and hope to get one of those sweet 0% for 84 month financing deals.

re: Searing Steaks on an outdoor grill

I appreciate all the advice. I think I need to look into upgrading my outdoor grill, or replacing it with a good charcoal grill/smoker. It is all about the BTU's. The temp gauge on my grill goes to 700, but I never see it really over 500 with the lid closed.
Thanks everyone.
Thanks everyone.

What are your best suggestions on getting a good sear when using a propane Kenmore grill.
Best I can do is have 2 large cast iron skillets. Cook the steaks on one side in one skillet, then on the other side in the unused skillet.

Ryan St is a pain in the arse because of Canes. Line down the street to Don's Car Wash at some points of the day.
re: Nola restaurant and bar renaissance

I think the answer is based on how many tourist feel comfortable coming back to NOLA. It really could be a much longer time than expected.
As soon as they raise the lock down, there will have to be a marketing blitz to convince those people that it's safe to return. The politicians need to quit talking down the city and get back to hosting events.
And, how many current restaurant groups are bleeding out? Will they have enough capital to restart, or will it take outsiders or new comers to revive the industry? There are always plenty of doctors and lawyers wives that want to open a restaurant...but, will there be enough experienced operators still in the game to keep them going?

Yes...small young cat. Just disappeared yesterday. Could have been something else, but, I know there is a hawk that lives in the pine tree on the front of our property.

Any idea how to kill it or run it off? I don't even know if that is legal.
