All that matters is that the rat was not doing the right thing for the right reasons, but to be a self serving prick.
He's a low life that doesn't value his own friends over not-so-strange. But the original guy messing around on his GF is also garbage.
If the rat had been life long friends with the girl first, it would be different and he would be totally justified. Otherwise its impossible for him to argue he wasn't scheming for his own gain.
Advice for a neutral party friends with both guys - black ball the rat and call out, but maintain friendships, with the philanderer.

Guys that try to seem cool to girls by putting their "friends" down are the worst of the worst. Had a guy attempt this on numerous occasions while in college. I never really cared that much since he was never successful and the girl would always end up just telling me it happened. Such a shitty thing to do though.

I was referring to posters saying "get better friends", obviously. Neither of the guys is remotely considered a friend and the girl is a friend of a friend.

Sounds like a bunch of bitches. If you are going to cheat out in the open then you should not be surprised when it gets back to the girl you are dating. On the other hand, it is a bitch move to get into the middle of it. It is also a bitch move to tell the girl with the intentions of fricking her because nothing good ever comes from shite like that.
Bottom line, the guy who was cheating should have been secretive about it. It would have eventually come back to him, but allowing others to see him cheating creating opportunities for the guy who wanted to bang his girl.
But what is confusing me the most is.. why is her being a smoker relative?
