SIAP. Though I'm sure if it was posted it got lost among all the rioting threads.

Fox News

Most of you probably already know that the Germans stole and hid tons and tons of artifacts, paintings, etc. during WWII. WWII looters, if you will.

quote:

A diary from World War II that may contain the location of a treasure worth billions of dollars and hidden by the Nazis has come into the spotlight for a map it may contain, according to media reports.

quote:

The diary was written by a S.S. officer under the pseudonym "Michaelis," Polish news site The First News (TFN) reported. It contained the plans of Heinrich Himmler, who wanted to hide the priceless works of art, artifacts and other riches the Nazis stole during the war. The diary is said to contain a map that shows 11 sites where the Nazis hid the riches, including a 16th-century castle near Roztoka, Poland.

quote:

In total, there are believed to be 11 sites in the diary where the treasure is located and may total more than 30 tons of gold.

quote:

The gold is believed to be at the bottom of a well, nearly 200 feet under the castle, known as Hochberg Palace. TFN reported the gold is worth billions of euros.

I'm going to guess it's no longer there.

No way they went public with this before checking it out.

I was thinking that too. Just like those shows where they go hunting for treasure.. can't imagine they'd out the location if it hadn't already either been proven false or picked bone dry.

I overlooked this when I first read it. Must be inaccessible currently. But it's privately owned so I suppose the public couldn't just go and explore anyway. Sounds like they don't even know IF the well is there, much less if it has the loot.

quote:

The owners of Hochberg Palace are going to restore the building, which has been neglected for years. As the restoration work continues, there will also be a search for the buried well, TFN noted.

Im skeptical of the diary’s authenticity. Back in the 80s or 90s someone wrote a diary and claimed it to be Hitler’s actual diary. It took months before anyone realized it was fake. If its real, then that gold is the only thing of value on Poland

Have any Nazi stashes actually been found in recent times? I know some were immediately following the war, but have any of the rumored ones been located? You hear about them ever so often, but not in the way of discovery.

All the stuff we couldn't find is either burned or in Russian hands.

It's shame we lost the Amber Room.
