Have you ever read on what the Lightning network is or what an off-chain transaction is? The community has taken measures to work on projects that make transactions instantaneous and free, up to the point where you settle up with the main blockchain.
And honestly, there are other coins that are better for a medium of exchange and BTC can simply be a store of value
