My credit cards don’t even have raised numbers anymore so they’d all have to be hand written.

I just got bac from Kroger here in Virginia, and I had no problem using my card at all. I guess we lucky today here in the valley.

Even before the debit card, there were Entree cards. That were like a check but used the credit system. It is funny that this method of payment (using a card to make purchases from your checking account) was started in the 1970’s but did not get widespread adoption until the 1990’s.

Old Louisiana National Bank TV spots go to about the 4 minute mark.

Could you image the hassle back then as business to accept a credit card before computer processing and instant online approvals?

There is more than one cc merchant. And cards like Amex are on their own.

Yep. You had to call merchant services for any charge greater than $50 and write the approval code on that receipt.

I caused it to happen when I put my card in upside down at RaceTrac.
