Whether you can kill someone with it or not ? The real question would be who put it there and why? Have this even been addressed? It cant be that many people who have access to this garage

who put a loop on a rope used to pull down the garage door?

It’s been there since 2019.
It was out there to pull down and close the garage door.

The big frick up was going public with it and making a huge fuss before the facts were determined, but I'm sure they and Fox didn't want to turn down the opportunity for a ratings boost.

I think there was sufficient melt from both sides.

ABC showed the other ropes last night. They were all straight ropes with a knot at the end. Nothing like this one. You guys just can't accept anything can you? I think it was done months, even years ago as a joke when the rope was put up, not even realizing a black driver would be there. Insensitive but not an attack on anyone.

Yes. The rope in question tied in that fashion had been there since at least October of last year. It was tied that way to make it easier to close the garage door.

I'm not sure I have ever seen that kind of loop/knot used on a door pull.
I haven't really kept track of door pulls though.

Insensitive to tie a knot like that? Get over yourself.

the video in the other thread showed several other garages with the same loop.

NASCAR just needing some CYA in light of this bogus “noosegate”
I have to applaud their PR department trying to find the best possible landing place to put this behind us, when everyone can tell this was a massive publicity stunt

That’s not a hangman’s noose. I’ve tied those—not for anything nefarious but I’ve tied them—and that’s not a frigging noose. The end of the rope is looped around the whole thing, so it’s just a pull string. The “noose” will not tighten.
I wouldn’t have known that, but then again, I don’t give a flying frick and don’t look to be offended by every. Single. Thing.

quote:Yep, unfortunate for Bubba that Jussie's dumbass did what he did because that gave everyone a reason to doubt its legitimacy from the get go. Now it was determined to be a gross overreaction by NASCAR and handled very poorly but it'll be Bubba who will never live down this incident. Yes it was "fake" in that no one tied a noose to threaten Bubba, but that's not going to stop people from acting like Bubba went to the track Sunday morning with the plan to stage a hate crime for his benefit.
I think there was sufficient melt from both sides.

Yet another instance where CONTEXT is apparently irrelevant.
Sure, it looks like a noose. But how in the hell does that lead to the IMMEDIATE jump that it is there strictly for racist purposes? After seeing it attached to a garage door a reasonable person would quickly decipher it is there to aid in operating the door. Not to serve as a symbol of hate. That fact would become even MORE clear once you realized a similar rope was attached to most, if not all of the other garage doors. A reasonable person would conduct a very basic analysis of what makes more sense given the CONTEXT. That this is a symbol of hate intentionally placed to scare/offend a certain person? Or, this is a rope used to operate a door? A reasonable person comes to that conclusion very quickly. A person searching for "racist symbols" comes to the other, more ridiculous conclusion because they don't care about the CONTEXT of where the rope was found.
If this SAME EXACT rope is found hanging from a tree limb outside of a black baptist church in Mississippi then the CONTEXT would suggest it was likely placed there for nefarious purposes because otherwise it is completely out of place. But when it is hanging from a garage door the CONTEXT suggest it's presence is for something totally different.
Point being, if you look for "racist symbols" all day then you are going to find many...because you simply don't care about the surround context in which you have found them.

This was found Sunday afternoon. They'd been in the garage for days. Meaning Bubba had been in the garage for days.
And they just discover it?

Of all the races at the track and all the drivers and crews was Bubba Wallace the only black driver or black person to ever be in that garage ?

I accept not being offended or scared of inanimate objects. If it was done months ago, why all the crying over it now?
Maybe some shouldn't be so sensitive

It was found Sunday morning, and drivers were not allowed in the garages due to Covid.

That is a fair question that hasn't been addressed.

If this is true, you are an idiot.
If people just started handing nazi flags all over the place you wouldn't care because its just an inanimate object?
