No that is indeed a hangmans noose knot and would function as designed. A standard noose knot is exactly same except you'd only have two rope rings before the tie off. Noose knot is still an acceptable knot, the hangmans noose is only tied for one reason, now of days...to make a statement. There is no real reason to use the hangmans noose knot since there are 15 other types of slip knots that function the same way and take less time to tie.

NASCAR said they checked the garages on the other 29 tracks as well. 1600+ garages and only the one Bubba used had a noose.
