A critical report issued by NASA's Office of Inspector General on Thursday regarding the 10-year Space Launch System Block 1B development for future Artemis astronaut missions to the Moon and Mars, pointed at least some fingers toward the "lack of a sufficient number of trained and experienced aerospace workers" at Boeing's Michoud Assembly Facility.

These issues are partly blamed for the Michoud-based project being currently projected $700 million over budget and delays of ups to 7 years, some of which are due to Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) funds to the core state during Artemis I production, changing Artemis mission assignments and maintaining an extended workforce seven years more than planned, manufacturing issues and supply chain challenges.

Who could have predicted this?

But the report said the problems at Michoud are largely due to a “lack of a sufficient number of trained and experienced aerospace workers at Boeing,” which it said was “in part due to Michoud’s geographical location in New Orleans and lower employee compensation relative to other aerospace competitors.”

Insurance and the forced private school doesn’t make it as “cheap” as some think it is to live here either

Gotta satisfy DEI expectations for a handful of retarded Americans instead of prioritizing the safety of all Americans

I once got to climb up into a shuttle fuel tank under construction at Michoud. It was later shot into space.

New Orleans is economically hostile to the working class. If there were a ratio of average income to average cost of living ours would easily be the worst in the nation,

The only way NASA is ever going to do anything meaningful again is if Elon buys them. In fact, they should just give him the name and the entire budget for literally everything they have in the works.

They should be able to hire some good DEI candidates in NO East.

This is an executive level 3rd grade mistake.

I don't know what you're trying to say with this post. Help me out.

You're fricking NASA, you can recruit literally world wide.

Oh, so it is really 98% typical NASA/FedGov shite. Carry on.

They have to want to live in New Orleans which many smart people do not.

So here is a thought, I’m sure Boeing doesn’t want to do this but if they made the money right, they could get employees.
They are just gonna have to understand the risk/reward side of this and not IV the koolaid so much.
They are gonna have to accept Nola is a shite show and dangerous so quality workers are gonna have to come from outside Nola. It ain’t white folks committing violent crimes in Nola either. I know that makes people uncomfortable but this is the time it has to be faced.
So, up some pay and white folks will show up to work with quality resumes.
I know it’s painful to pull out the woke/liberal koolaid I.V.’s but you can either scrap the project, higher more shitey workers, or go the smart route and attract quality workers and have a great program.
