I, for one, welcome our alien overlords.

Good chance it’s warmer there than it is in the south central US right now

Pissing off the Martians again by throwing more shite over the fence into their yard! LOL
Seriously, this is awesome stuff, The sheer volume of calculations and stuff these folks do to even attempt these things is staggering.

The rover left for Mars on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 541 rocket on July 30, 2020, with a 293-million-mile (471 million km) journey ahead of it. Traveling at 1.6 miles per second (2.5 km per second) through space, the rover will have to decelerate quickly when it hits the Martian atmosphere.

Just that sentence right there is absolutely staggering to me. That's a long damn journey doing speeds that are difficult to really try and visualize in my mind. There are some truly incredibly smart people to even try and take on something like this. Much less actually making it happen in reality. Tip of the cap to those people.

How much of a delay will be in the feed? At light speed, it still takes 3 minutes to get to Mars.

NASA will have no communication with the rover as it attempts its landing in the Jezero Crater. Radio signals take 11 minutes to travel to and from the rover so it is being powered by on board computers.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 2,000°F and a supersonic parachute will be deployed to slow the rover down from its entry speed of around 12,000mph — quick enough to travel from London to New York in 15 minutes.

USA Today has a great graphic with step-by-step explanation of the landing process. LINK
Here's the overview, but the link above has some fascinating details not evident from this pic.
