Loowavulle in yankee land drives me nuts as well. The kings name was not loowa.
I had a HS teacher from KY and he pronounced it Loowavulle, which sounded odd to me.
Up north, in my area anyway, we pronounce it Louievil

I’ve heard too many transplants refer to the I-35 off-shoot to highway 33 as being the Klaw-qwet exit.

A good number of Cajuns with the last name Martinez
Ramirez and Martinez are Mexican families that decided to pronounce their names differently to try and sound not Mexican. Same way a lot of names change when getting to America

Burgundy Street
Thought about it this morning.
Burgundy Street: bur-GUNN-dee as they say in New Orleans (as pronounced by my grandparents, first gen from southern France but New Orleans style)
Not bur-gaen-dee, which is more traditional French language style. Proper French language seldom includes 'emphasis' on syllables within words, meaning to say that phrases within the language flow smoothly, because of the lack of emphasis on syllables.
For example, the English language stresses certain syllables resulting in the language sounding 'choppy' compared to French, in which syllables are expressed with equal temperament.
So, bur-gaen-dee (no emphasis on syllables) is proper, bur-GUNN-dee (emphasis on 2d syllable) is Americanized, the New Orleans pronunciation.

Bergeron and whether the first syllable is pronounced baage or berrge seems to not correlate with locale.

Tangipahoa
Village of: tanj-puh-ho
Out of towners and South enders (most): phonetically
Franklinton
Locals: frankle-ton
Rest of the known world: frank-Lin-ton
Lady corrected me on my pronunciation of Tangipahoa, I kindly informed her “there’s no damn ankle in Franklinton “
