I’ve been everywhere. Nice seeing some fellow travelers.
1. Orlando
2. Phoenix
3. Jacksonville
4. San Antonio
Agree. Also agree with Houston and Hartford.
Would add Alexandria VA and Missoula MT. The rest of MT is great, Aurora, CO gives me the creeps for some reason, this is before they had a shooting. Indianapolis was a big disappointing nothingburger.

"Identity" is overrated. NO is the poster child for that assessment.
It makes it unique and interesting to me but that doesn't necessarily make me want to live in a particular place. There are a lot of places that would probably be considered boring and dull to many that are good places to live.
Raleigh was always kind of like that to me. Good place to live for a career and to raise a family but not particularly unique or fun to visit.

Nah! Columbus has a world class public university, NHL Hockey, and a zoo that has been voted the best in the country.
Here's my list of the top 5 cities with lack of identity.
1 Atlanta
2 Atlanta
3 Atlanta
4 Atlanta
5 Atlanta

Oklahoma City
Sacramento
Both pretty decent towns. They have both become way more hip the last 15 years and OKC is full of great art deco buildings similar to ft. Worth. I keep telling my wife when we get gentrified out of Dallas we are moving to OKC.

This one doesn’t fit in with the others.

Houston
Dallas
Indy
Los Angeles
Orlando
Jax
I can understand the hate for Memphis, but it is anything but bland
Charlotte and Atlanta could be argued as bland due to the New South influence, but having lived in both, I'd say there are some pretty neat spots there that stand out.

Youngstown Ohio unless your identity is best place for being murdered at night at a gas station

Again...Spanish identity is very strong. You can’t forget it in any area of town. They are prideful of their culture and let you know on damn near every block. I’ll disagree...don’t see this fitting into the others.

People keep ignoring that I said in the OP this doesn’t mean a place you’d like to live a raise kids but somewhere you’d like to visit for a weekend

So you’ve been one time and it was partially spent on a military base...

Urban sprawl is completely out of control in most Sun Belt cities, which makes them bland and lifeless highway mazes

I worked there for a week maybe 10-12 years ago. That was the only place I'd ever been where I saw houses with cages around their outdoor AC units

Say Shreveport for automatic upvotes from insecure New Orleans boys

Salt Lake City is very dull.

Yeah, but we were there for a 4 or 5 nights. I admitted later in the thread it was a poor choice. I'd put Indianapolis in its place most likely.

The mountain cities I've noticed are appealing because of the outdoor recreation not the cities themselves. Denver, SLC and Boise all are very meh as far as the actual city goes. There's good restaurants and night life but most decent sized cities have that.

That's my hometown, so yes I'm a little partial. Great people in Pittsburgh.
