Jacksonville Beach or the city of Jacksonville? There’s a big difference between the two.
I am talking Jacksonville proper.

Denver and Nashville definitely have identity.
I would say Houston, Charlotte, Orlando, Oklahoma City, and Louisville

It’s still their identity. That’s what everyone thinks about Nashville. You can still visit those places in the city. Just because you don’t agree with the identity doesn’t mean it lacks one.
And also, lacking an identity doesn’t mean it’s dull. Take Houston for example. It may lack an identity (other than the one you pointed out) but it’s not dull. Tons of stuff to do

So, you don’t like Hartford because people have lived there forever, and you don’t like Nashville because people haven’t been there forever.

Agree with you. It is a rust belt style city that happens to be close to great outdoor activities within an hour or so drive.

I’ve always felt Alexandria was like that. Hell Monroe and Shreveport both have more of an identity (for good and bad, mainly bad though) than Alex.
ehh Alex is boring but feels more Louisiana-ish than Monroe, and this is coming from someone who had to drive to one of the other for literally anything growing up because the town I grew up in was so small. But any city in La is going to have more "identity" than some random city in Indiana or Iowa or something. That being said, I'm not sure you can compare a place like Alex, Monroe, or even Shreveport with big major cities.

Not much else needs to be said
Spent a week there last year and really enjoyed it. The people were friendly, but not southern. The downtown area was nice and their minor league ballpark was the best I've ever been to. The crowd was awesome with a bunch of things to do around it. The Ohio State Fair was legit and the beer scene was decent.

Yeah I’m not comparing to the big cities, just that Alex feels dull (I’ve lived there as well as north Louisiana and NO).

I live in Charlotte, and like it ‘ok but with all the yankee transplants, it’s a weird identity. I’m mean, it’s a banking town...not sure I’d call it “dull” though.
Raleigh, I’ve never figured that place out. Same for Greensboro. It’s weird.
Asheville, definite identity, I’d say Wilmington too.

1. Orlando - pretty drab outside of Disney
2. Phoenix - Hot and boring
3. Jacksonville - spent a month here on a work assignment. It was dreadful
4. San Antonio - only been here once when my brother finished AF basic training. Forgettable city.
5. Cincinnati

Orlando is #1. Mostly because it is just the epitome of the soulless FL vibe that permeates much of the central part of the state.
Nobody is from there, nobody has roots, it's striver city utopia that is obsessed with vanity yet somehow comes off seeming pathetic and bleak.

America has only three cities: New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland.
