NAK Attack! WBRZ takes aim at OT’s favorite contractor

I gotta believe it was an OT’er that notified WBRZ that Morris was back in business. Well, he threw in the flag and pulled his internet presence down.

BATON ROUGE – Notorious flood contractor Matthew Morris who took a plea deal related to investigations surrounding fraud in the wake of the 2016 disaster removed online profiles of a possible new business venture focused on coronavirus response.
Morris wrote a letter to news outlets after his social media accounts drew public outcry when he set up pages soliciting possible business ventures related to what he called a “potential business opportunity to make use of my industry and business experience, business protocols and systems, supplier network and industry contacts to provide non-residential emergency, crisis and business consulting services” related to COVID-19. Morris said his online accounts were launched a week ago to explore an opportunity to make use of what he said was his business “experience” in crisis consulting. In 2018, Morris pleaded guilty to one count of filing false public records. He's been sentenced to four years hard labor with credit for time served. Morris was accused, and featured in numerous 2 On Your Side investigations, of taking advantage of dozens of people needing construction services after the August 2016 flood. "I've seen a lack of remorse. Never have I heard you say sorry. You preyed on people who lost everything," a judge said to Morris at the time.
The emailed statement Tuesday came a day after Morris’ businesses ignored calls and messages from Brittany Weiss after people reported seeing his new profiles on the internet this weekend. In the statement Tuesday, Morris said he was owed a second chance: “I believe our great country was built on second chances and I am eager to use my expertise to help provide commercial clients with the services they need to help stop this growing pandemic, given the strained number of industry providers available to fulfill this need.”

He robbed a bunch of old people in 2016. It is 2020. WTF is he not living at the Graybar Hotel?

What's a guy gotta do to be able to rip a few people off without some nosey reporter getting into his business?

I honestly wish a pox upon this guy. There is no redemption for stealing from the helpless.

I 100% sent Nak, WBRZ, Wafb, and others the links to his website (before he pulled it down).
They were already aware of the situation and had contacted the DAs in parishes he committed fraud along with the DOJ

Statement from Matthew Morris - March 31, 2020:
In response to the misleading article published yesterday by the Baton Rouge Business Report (BRBR), this statement is provided to clarify my intentions for pursuing and possibly establishing a new entity focused on COVID-19-related services.
As quoted in the BRBR article, the purpose of this new entity is “bringing our quality-focused indoor environmental services expertise to communities around the nation by offering consulting and franchising opportunities that empower other construction, cleaning, remediation and other capable companies to urgently respond to this crisis, equipped with a proven working business model that ensures compliance with CDC protocols and ensures financial success.”
While the BRBR story states that I was “advertising direct remediation services to homeowners whose properties have been contaminated by COVID-19...and the company is also marketing franchise licenses to entrepreneurs who want to get into the cottage (sic) industry,” this information conflicts with the company overview provided on the COVID-19 online media platform - demonstrating the facts were blatantly ignored.
As Attorney General Jeff Landry pointed out over the weekend, the media has a duty to report the facts during this time of panic - instead of trying to incite fear among the public by reporting misleading, exaggerated or false information, as was done by the BRBR.
The facts are that, first of all, the COVID-19 Solutions online media platforms were launched last Saturday as a preliminary step in exploring a potential business opportunity to make use of my industry and business experience, business protocols and systems, supplier network and industry contacts to provide non-residential emergency, crisis and business consulting services across the United States. The online media platforms, which have since been temporarily taken down as we continue to finalize other parallel work streams, did not mention residential cleaning or any services that would be marketed to homeowners.
The rapidly changing circumstances and research related to the pandemic present an urgent need across our nation for services that address business continuity for critical infrastructure industries, such as restaurants, petrochemical facilities and other commercial businesses.
In an effort to fulfill this anticipated demand for services, I was exploring all legal and regulatory requirements in parallel to creating marketing materials for a new business entity. I have been working with my attorneys to evaluate the legal requirements for performing these commercial activities outside of the State of Louisiana, particularly in areas most impacted by the virus.
If there is sufficient interest in the services, my attorneys and I are prepared to register the entity and to comply with all laws in the jurisdictions where I might operate.
I have a thorough knowledge of indoor environmental protocols that is directly applicable to combatting this growing pandemic. Following the flood of 2016, I took a stand against FEMA’s guidelines for how external sheathing should be replaced within contaminated homes, as guidelines for the remediation of contaminated sheathing in Louisiana differed from other states. After Hurricane Harvey occurred one year later, Texas implemented the same remediation guidelines that I was fighting for in Louisiana - ensuring their residents returned home to cleaner, safer structures. Soon thereafter, FEMA’s guidelines were updated to be consistent with the protocols that I had strongly recommended to my clients and their insurance companies, which resulted in numerous disputes with multiple parties.
I believe our great country was built on second chances and I am eager to use my expertise to help provide commercial clients with the services they need to help stop this growing pandemic, given the strained number of industry providers available to fulfill this need.

What I find hilarious is he has zero remorse for what he did.
I would at least respect the balls it would take to come out, admit he was wrong (with true remorse), pledge that he learned from his mistakes and won’t make it again.
I still wouldn’t hire him, but I’d at least give him props for attempting to move past his past

I work for a big corporation that wants to come out with a business model like his but we won’t because it hasn’t been proven. Covid-2 has been around for a while but Covid-19 is different.
