Wrf do some of your wives do that they believe they would have an arrest warrant?
I’d be so pissed off if my wife took 17 grand and sent it somewhere without so much as saying a word.
Thats grounds for divorce imo.

Who was the poster here who's wife devolved into drugs and such and kept pulling money out at shady ATMs and convenience stores?
Sad stuff.
Haven't read the whole thread, but it's hard to believe someone in their right mind would withdraw $17k cash and deposit it in a shady cash machine without talking it over....

Disagree. If my wife did something this stupid I would question every decision she’s ever made and every decision she will make in the future

I can attest to grasshoppers post.
My wife received the same phone call back in March. She was fully bought in and the caller had her convinced she couldn’t tell me or she’d be in contempt of court.
They called from our local area code with a number that tied back to the sheriff’s office. My wife would not get off the phone till I snatched it from her and dog cussed.
I was so damn frustrated. She apologized profusely after the fact.
It’s happening all over.

Believe what you want but i actually got a call on my phone and the caller ID said it was me. Calling myself, from the phone that was in my own hand.
And? What did you want?

That’s NOT what happened. She needed money for something/someone else. $17K for a warrant and no consulting you or a lawyer. It seems YOU got scammed.

Women shouldn’t be allowed access to this kind of money. If anything, get her a prepaid credit card each month and only put the amount she needs to buy groceries. Maybe put an extra $50 or $100 for spending money.

I got the call last Spring. Claimed that I had a federal warrant and they were with the EBR Sheriff’s office. I asked which federal judge in the middle district is executing a warrant through a local law enforcement agency? He said the warrant “didn’t have the judge’s name”. I asked why the Marshalls aren’t executing federal warrants, that is the law. Also, no answer. I told him to hold on and I was going to get my buddy who is a federal prosecutor in the middle district on the line and we can clear this up. He started yelling obscenities and told me there would be more charges if I tried to threeway a federal prosecutor in on the call.
Feel bad for the OP but you have to be a complete moron to fall for this scam.

That's so crazy. So ridiculous. Of course you can tell someone.
I don't care who they claim to be I am telling them I have to verify they are real before I consider such a thing. That means me calling up companies or businesses regardless of what their phone number says.
If they can't accept that then they are fake.

That's good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
It's wild to me, because if money is clearing this up then there is no reason you can't tell someone else about it. The idea of money over the phone clearing it up and not having time to get back with them is so suspect. Again, I'm telling them I have to verify who they are and we can get back in touch. If they can't respect that then they are fake.

Sorry you married a retard OP

After reading this thread, you married a legit retard. What fricking government agency, much less police department, would accept bitcoin to clear a warrant?
I have no sympathy for your wife. She’s too stupid to be left unsupervised.

You generally cannot simply pay off or resolve a warrant over the phone. Warrants are issued by judges because you have failed to comply with a court process, such as missing a court date, owing fines, or violating probation. The court requires you to appear in person before a judge to address the underlying legal matter.
Common Warrant Scams:
Be aware of scams where someone contacts you by phone claiming to be from law enforcement or the court and demanding immediate payment to resolve a warrant or avoid arrest. These are fraudulent calls, and you should not provide personal information or make any payments. The U.S. District Court will never ask for sensitive information or assess fines over the phone without a person first appearing before a judge.
How to Address a Warrant:
Confirm the warrant's existence: Contact the court clerk's office in the jurisdiction where the warrant may have been issued to confirm its status.
Consult with a criminal defense attorney: An attorney can advise you on your options, potentially negotiate with the court on your behalf, arrange for a voluntary surrender, or request a recall of the warrant.
Appear in court: In most cases, you will need to appear before the court that issued the warrant to resolve the issue.
Consider Voluntary Surrender: Turning yourself in demonstrates cooperation and can potentially lead to a more favorable outcome.
Address the underlying issue: This may involve paying fines, attending missed court hearings, or complying with court orders.
In summary, you cannot simply resolve a warrant over the phone. You will need to engage with the appropriate legal processes, which often includes appearing in court and potentially working with a lawyer to address the issue.

Why on godsgreenearth would they call you and WARN you they’re coming to arrest you??? Think about it…
Several years ago, my younger son got a call from someone claiming to be a Lieutenant with our city’s police department. The guy told my son there was a federal warrant out for him, and that Metro was on the way to arrest him… UNLESS he wanted to pay the fine over the phone.
My son told the guy he was at work and had to put him on hold for a minute. And he called the police department and asked a) was there a Lt Dan Figaroa on the force and b) did they actually have a federal warrant for him. Metro laughed and told him it was a scam. They do NOT call people they’re enroute to arrest. And local police departments do NOT serve federal warrants - the US Marshals do that. Son went back to the call, apologized, and said he was the only one there just now but would get right back to him.
My son then called the US Marshal’s Office and asked them if there was a warrant out for him. They laughed, too, and told him it was a scam. They also don’t call people they’re going to arrest, nor can any fines be paid over the phone to avoid arrest.
So my son got the guy back on the line and said “Well, I can’t pay that fine.” Lt Figaroa was a bit pissy - he’d just spent quite a bit of time on hold, after all. But he did offer to reduce the fine, if my son could pay half the original amount.
Son said sorry… not happening. The caller got very upset and insisted my son pay, or the Lt himself would be knocking on his door in a few minutes to arrest him.
Son: Be my guest. I’m here in this office until 4pm. Tell the guy at the gate with the M16 that you’re here to arrest me.
Caller: I’m on my… what? What do you mean he has an M16? Are you threatening a police officer??
Son: Nope. Just warning you that the Marine standing duty at the gate here at Parris Island is armed, so you’d better have your warrant in-hand.
Caller:… um… click…
Note: The caller claimed to be with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. My son is in the Navy and was stationed at Parris Island (SC) Marine Recruiting Depot at the time… 3,000 miles away…

Same here.
My wife got a call earlier this year with the guy saying she missed an appearance in federal court, there was a signature, but she was not present. He said it looks like someone signed for you and there's a warrant out for her arrest. But if they can't match the signatures at the courthouse, she's vindicated.
But...... first she needed to secure a cash bond and if she showed up a the courthouse before doing so, she would be arrested on the spot. She finds me, tells me this story with the guy still on the line. I've never had to bail, or was arrested or whatever so I'm thinking "this sounds shady, but I'm not 100% sure either".
So she's panicking and now we're driving to the bank to get money (or so she thinks anyway) and I'm still trying to process this shite thinking this sounds like bullshite. So the guy says we just need to get the cash and deposit it in ATM location provided in the text message sent to my wife.
I'm like wait, you have some instructions? She says yeah. She texted it to me, and now I'm certain this is a scam to go to the local gas station and deposit money. Then I uploaded the image to ChatGPT to see if this is a known scam and it says yes.
But, still not enough to convince my wife. So I parked, got out, called the sheriff's office and spoke with a deputy. Deputy says you're 100% right, it's a scam it's been going around.
I get back in the truck, put her phone on mute, put the deputy on speaker and asked her to tell my wife what to do. The deputy says "Ma'am this is no doubt a scam. You need to hang up now and do not answer if they call back. We do not accept payments that way." Only then did she finally hang up. FML

After thinking about this more... Your wife is banging the FBI agent. Great excuse, and he tells you not to expect the money back in hopes you don't look.

my main takeaway from all this is that women should not be allowed to answer the phone

Lol, I'm not even gonna argue that because I agree ??. I was furious over the $3k too. But the worse part is, as a white woman who's never been arrested, instead of calling our two family friends who are attorneys or the sheriff's department, she proceeded to pay the scammer then inform me she is now a "free woman" and im out the $3k lol. All good. Counting my blessings bc it could have been a lot more money and it's a lesson learned on her part
