Now the brands don’t match because she’s getting a KitchenAid dishwasher. Let’s see how long before she’s talking about getting matching appliances.

"Honey, right after you went to work, the fridge started making a funny sound. I looked it up on youtube, tried to fix it. Long story short, can we go to Lowe's tonight? We need a new one."

Well until you get the new appliance, I would say “the wife” is the new dishwasher. You break it, you make up for it.

I bought a Kitchenaid Model KDTE204GPS0 from Best Buy a few years ago and been happy with it. Quiet and does a good job cleaning dishes. I think Napoleon said Kitchenaid is now owned and manufactured by Whirlpool. At least have to give your wife an A for effort.

I had a customer do that recently. Had a noise in drain pump. But they took off circulation pump and broke its mount. Then needed a cheap drain pump and a very expensive circulation pump.

I should have told her to page you on the OT and we could have avoided all of this.

At least some guy at Lowe’s gets some commission, I guess.

ETA:

On second thought, if she started a thread it would have just devolved into hard legs asking for pics and then a group white knighting to defend her e-honor and she still would have broken it.

She called me yesterday afternoon and said it wasn’t draining properly. I told her that I would take a look at it when I got home.

She didn’t listen, watched a video on YouTube about dishwasher maintenance that convinced her she could fix it, and now we’re going to Lowe’s to get a new dishwasher.

I’m on my third dishwasher in this house. I just assume I’m going to buy a new one every 5-6 years. I can change one out in about 40 minutes. Lived with the one that was in the house until we replaced a dead oven. So we bought a stainless dishwasher to match that and the fridge. It had a recall on the drying element a few years in then it slowly got to where it wouldn’t clean. Did some minor maintenance to it and it didn’t get any better. Bought a replacement and put that in about 4 years ago. I’ll probably go with a Maytag to match the fridge when this one dies. I don’t care how quiet it is. With three kids in my house I would hope it would be loud enough to drown them out. I just want one that gets them clean and dry.

There's so much trash in such a short innocent statement.

Damn. Your wife is a go-getter. My wife's repair efforts would have been to press all the buttons, and then maybe unplug it and plug it back in.

Mine does this all the time too. I like to plan, research, shop, etc before just jumping into a project. She just starts wrecking shite, then I have to fix what she broke.

Dishwashers are not complicated. If you remove the bottom sump there is a metal grate with a blender blade. This becomes clogged or bent, impeding drainage. They sell universal rebuild kits for about $12 with these parts assuming a simple clean-out doesn't work.

Woman needs a man in her life.

Mine clogged ours up with sunflower seeds once, it took me two hours to find the issue and then I about blew a gasket.

She was spitting seed shells in a cup then just stuck it in the dishwasher, so it clogged the air vent thing that comes up to the sink.
Might I suggest investing in a pack of plastic solo cups

My ex wife who is a doctor convinced my mom that our brand new very expensive dishwasher was broken (this was never brought to my attention). My mom simply suggested to move silverware that was blocking the detergent dispenser.

Of course my count ex wife couldn't give credit where credit was due.

Sounds like a fun house. My 3 yo son walked up behind his mom a couple weeks ago, slapped her on the butt and said “heyyyy” as he gave her the double pistol hand wave.
