I walked into a dealership and told the sales guy that I was "going to buy a car today."

When we couldn't reach a deal and I started to leave he said, "I thought you said you were buying a car today."

My reply was "I didn't say I was going to buy it here."

You went to a “truck” dealership to buy a “car”?

Don’t back yourself in a corner. Say you’re ready to buy one as soon as you find the right price.. That gives him some time to come down.

Did you use the will cover method?

Buying a car should be fun. But often it's the last thing I want to hassle with.

Sounds like you wasted some time at a dealership.

You are the Car buying guru of TD, why would you even do that. Were you just bored and felt like screwing with someone?

Why wouldn't you just email him?

I am at a point in my life now that I don’t hassle as much with the dealerships.

What’s another 2 years in financing to an OT baller.

I went to the butcher today and the butcher said, “Hey buddy, you thinkin’ about buying some meat?”

I said, “Nope. I’m buying some meat. I’m thinkin’ about ....!”

Do the deal via email.
Walk in sign papers, avoid extended warranty unless it's a diesel and you're gonna keep it past OEM warranty, never lease your DD.

Done.

My parents had a dealership on the Northshore say that the scratch on the bumper was no big deal. They went on to say that it was going to be scratched up in a grocery store parking lot at some point anyway so why worry about it. Needless to say, they were having none of it for a NEW car. The craziest part of all of this is that the guy informing them of this had his name on the building. On a final note, this "new car" had sand, dog hair, and french fries in it too (it evidently was a loner for someone that took it to the beach). It's crazy how customer service and quality control have gone downhill so noticeably.

Salesman does have a point.

True. Perhaps you want some "pre-tasted" Blue Bell ice cream...you know, since you are going to eat it anyway.

Had enough frickers whine and howl about their new car having 100 miles on it, because we did a dealer trade for them, that we started trailering them all.
