I know several car dealers. They all say the jack arse who walks in and says "I'm going to buy a car today".....never buys a car and aren't taken seriously.

Had enough frickers whine and howl about their new car having 100 miles on it, because we did a dealer trade for them, that we started trailering them all.
Of that I have no doubt. However, even though it had 350 miles on it, that was not an issue. Whoever used it actually left a back brace in the rear of the car as well. Like I said, according to my parents, the service was exceptionally poor. This was the third car that they have purchased from that dealership. As I understand it, a younger family member (son?) is in charge now. Perhaps that explains the decline.

Salesman does have a point.

Visiting a dealership tomorrow. Whole deal worked out via email. Just show up, sign, and drive.

At least tell us what car you were looking at?

I am a full time 45 hour a week I.T. administrator for an automotive group. I have been for 7 years. I know everyone from the owner and his family, to the GM's, the managers, mechanics to the to the lube techs and lot porters. That is for 18 New car dealerships from multiple manufacturers.
My brother sells Kia's and is #1 or #2 company wide every year. He is Kia Elite. Top 50 nationally for new Kia sales.
With the access to the DMS (Dealer Management System) and all information I have and the knowledge my brother has. I laugh at you guys.
I have seen it all. The good, bad, and ugly from the front of the store to the back. I am big brother...

No you just post the pics of cars on the dealerships website along with car info. You are the dealerships keyboard bitch boy.

Do you have a better method for buying cars? If not then STFU
Selling cars is a sleezy job. If it wasn't, then it would be just like any other normal transaction. IMO, you should be able to purchase straight from the manufacturer. Dealerships are a pointless middleman.

Don’t back yourself in a corner. Say you’re ready to buy one as soon as you find the right price.. That gives him some time to come down.
Yep, and negotiating takes a little time. I’ve never gone into a dealership and had to buy a vehicle that day, even though I always let them know i’m a serious buyer and ready to pull the trigger today. The end result for me is to have two or more at different dealerships working for my business, and always over the phone when they do follow ups. I’m not going back in until I have something I’m ready to buy, and still I’m fully prepared to walk and do it all over again if they try and crawfish. You have to do homework first though and make sure your expectations are reasonable or not. It’s never been easier than today with the advent of the internet.

I had a good experience with carmax, us wide inventory on line prices fixed, liked one in Denver , they shipped to San Antonio for 400 bucks. completed deal and out the door in 45 minutes. I cannot stand to talk to std car dealers

No prep work, no deal. You’ve got to work the deal for a week or so if you want the right price.

I recently bought a new car and it was an interesting experience.
The first dealership I went to was an AutoNation dealership and apparently they have almost zero flexibility with the price. They politely asked me to leave and I walked away when we were 1700 dollar apart.
Called a different dealership a few hours away, got the price I wanted and signed the paperwork the next weekend. Easy. I would definitely recommend negotiation the price ahead of time.

What I hate is that I’m usually more knowledgeable about the vehicle, from research I’ve done, then the salesman I’m dealing with. I mean damn if you working selling a vehicle at least be knowledgeable about it otherwise no reason for you to talk to me. Just let me talk to your “manager” you keep running back to discuss the potential sale with.
