No, you are angry at anyone older than you, regardless of their status. You must have come from upper middle class or higher. Does rain get in your nose?

You blame everyone born before you for any challenge you see before you. That's sad and shallow thinking.

Some of us just simply worked and worked hard. Some didn't. You don't know who did or didn't, you just paint with the broad brush and blame everyone. I hope you find something to bring you happiness, cause it must be miserable being this shallow of mind.

Not my kids. They are the ones raising a family and paying taxes. Not all boomers and their families are dregs of society. Just some are.

At 38 (2001) I felt about as overwhelmed by life as I ever had before. So I did the only I could think to do and that was to just focus on saving as much as possible without making the girls “go without”. This was on a salary of 65K plus benefits.

It wasn’t easy, but I was no different than the majority of my friends and neighbors.

$65k in 2001 is inflation adjusted to $123k today. A family of 5 on $123k is by all means doable in a market like Baton Rouge but you aren’t saving much, if any.

Housing, healthcare, childcare/education, and food have all outpaced inflation. But wages have not.

And I don’t give a shite over a sniveling, juvenile who only wants some attention and a hand out. Didn’t you spend time in prison homey?

it’s quite literally not my fault that I live in a racial jungle and the average house is 600k

Are you being forced to live in California or New York city against your will?

Why?

It's true.

Why “isn’t it supposed to be comfortable?” What purpose does that serve? Boomers believing that is a big part of the reason middle class and college educated people are waiting longer to get married and have kids, which is having a huge impact on our declining birth rate.

Instead of saying “you are supposed to struggle” the policies should be to ensure those mid-20’ year olds are financially stable enough to start families. That would mean things like cutting government spending though, and every year the budget gets bigger and bigger on things that do nothing to help improve the quality of life in this country.

It's simple. 20yr olds aren't going to have the same assets as 30s, 40s and beyond. That's just the way it works.

I get it. You don’t go outside very often.

It’s a different (worse) world than the one you grew up in

As a frame of reference, I had two kids and a stay at home wife in 1996 and was making $50K per year, which is equivalent to $106K today per AI. I had just bought a 3 bedroom house for $125K (equivalent to $265K today) and had two cars that I had already paid off. I was able to come up with the down payment because I bought my starter first home in my 20’s that was a fixer upper in a flood zone and made some equity on it when it sold.

The fact that we weren’t taking vacations or having Uber Eats bring us sushi at home helped a lot.

Except that same job wouldn't pay $123K today, because wages haven't kept up with inflation.

Those that have zero savings and are getting paid to protest at No Kings rallies don’t rank high on my list. Those that worked hard and saved like I did (as a member of Generation X), I respect.
