i tend to agree. The Airbnb boogieman on real estate prices seems a bit overblown.

Maybe in New Orleans or other tourist towns, there is a real tanigble effect on that market but even still i think it is an easy target.

Could just be that I live in Houston and Airbnb is almost exclusive used for cultered happenings thus not popular in non-cultured areas

I am referring to people not having children.

SS and other programs are propped up by the next generation, hence why I say that it is a theft from your kids and grandkids.

They stole your money to prop up the previous generation.

Generations were told not to have kids, get a degree, working is the best, and now they aren’t having kids.

Factor in those who think they can’t afford it and we aren’t replacing at the rate we should.

This reduces future input, thus the inability to replace the funds.

The only part of the younger generations I was concerned with was my children and their future and we planned and saved accordingly. Hell, we are still saving. The raises my wife and I received after paying college tuition from 2009 to 2022 were awesome!

Yet would be a considerable cost savings nonetheless. Right?

I mean.. since we all are on the subject of escalating debt and people stealing other people's money.

What are the younger gens doing about it? Besides many demanding unabated immigration into this country to add to the debt burden?

100%

Welfare should be limited to physical generic foodstuffs.

All the rest should be cut.

My FiL floated on a boat for 3 years during Vietnam and spends every waking hour of his life trying to get more “disability” money from the VA for himself and all his boomer buddies.

My dad quit working some time around 40, almost 40 years ago, and decided he’d claim disabled. He sat around the house for decades, and when my mom finally left he went straight to the VA and got on the gravy train.

These are also the people that have benefited from all these local jobs that are funded by property and sales taxes. We’re now paying their pensions. Most of these entities are just bullshite jobs programs that provide no value to the average tax payer.

Do you think anyone here would be against cutting section 8 and Medicaid?

Really? That’s where you’ve moved the goalposts?

BS. Gen X, Mils and now Gen Z are all equally responsible for it as well today. They don’t want it gone either.

I am for doing away with SS and all welfare programs.

I want a balanced budget. I have one in my personal life and my Government should as well.

The biggest mistake boomers made was not setting high expectations for their children and trying hard to be their best friend instead of a good parent. Allowing them to study whatever makes them happy.

not really

you could cut it out today and the country would still be trillions in debt

We are talking 40% of the federal budge vs 2% of the federal budget

Labor force participation rate for 25 - 65 age range is unchanged over the last 30 years. Only drop is the 16 - 24 age.

Who is not working now that should be working? It ain’t Boomers. Which generation is the next one to support all of these government programs by working and paying taxes?

It's actually the reverse. The labor force participation rate has only increased in the 55 - 75 range since 2004 and it's because Boomers aren't retiring at the same rate. Largely because they still need to work. Interestingly enough the 55+ participation rate is up the same percentage that the 16-25 rate has decreased.

Pretty sure the boomers who ran the last 2 Dem Presidential terms were responsible for this

Also go look at the % in age demographics of the 24 election between one candidate that was for immigration and one who was against

you obviously don't know shite about anything except fox news soundbites and are out of your depth
