My apartment in Tigerland was $325 per month in 1999

It really is a damn shame what tigerland has become. Honestly, that is not that large an area and it would be easy to put enough police pressure there to drive out all of the shite.

Part of it was.
BR was here before you were. you shouldn’t be so quick to judge things with which you aren’t familiar.

850-900 I think. Way too rich for our blood. Think Tiger plaza was about a hundred/month less for each of us so we went there after they had renovated it. Same ownership as oak brook at the time.

I go out in New Orleans and have never been robbed. Interesting.

Had friends get held up in college back during 2002-2007. Gotta know better in that area, unfortunately.

I lived in Tigerland from 1981-1984. It was pretty nice.
When did it go to garbage?

Lived right off brightside from '12-'17.
Any less than 4 guys in a group walking home, we ubered.
That was the house rule.
More than once we walked by some suspicious characters on Alvin dark. Even in a group of 10, we would worry.
Then again we never took extended clips into consideration...

Is Alvin dark/ sharlo area the new gardere since the working Mexicans/ Hondurans have run so many of the blacks out. I acquired some apartments in gardere area not long ago and redid them. All of my tenants are Latino that pay on time and don’t put up with bs from the blacks.

I lived on the corner of Ned and Port when the Rodney King incident occurred. Fun time to be a white guy in a Toyota Tercel living in that hood. Had a neighbor named Michael Jackson.

Look at his post history. The guy should be kept in a padded room

When did this happen to tigerland? It wasn't that way in early 2000's right?
That’s when I was in school and I was always under the assumption that the tenants there were receiving some type of housing subsidies.
Like others have said, that part of Tigerland has been sketchy for a really long time.

The city of Baton Rouge needs to shut the whole Tigerland area down. The good places like Fred’s are well off enough to find a safer location in a nicer area closer to campus. Just pull the plug. Life will go on. It’s too much liability. The riff raff are way less likely to be around close to campus

LSU should buy it out and build a nutrition center.
