Do you really think the cost of repairs and replacement vehicles is anywhere close to the amount of money paid for bodily injury?

yes, when the majority of these Gordon cases are settling for $5,000 - $10,000.

Do you really think the majority of the cases are settling for millions of dollars?

This is the winner…the price of cars, in particular pre-owned cars spiked and since insurance relies on previous loss ratios to make adjustments, sometimes they are a little behind and then folks don’t correlate why it goes up. In this care it’s purely the law of large numbers and the increase in costs of inflation on everything related to cars has to be accounted for in premiums. These companies are paying out and can’t operate with perpetual losses therefore they have to adjust with the times.

Yes, this is the case. But it is only one piece of the issue.

Social inflation and distracted driving have also played a major role.

There have been some major verdicts in recent years that have scared the absolute shite out of insurers.

Distracted driving speaks for itself. Don’t text and drive.

Shop still holding check almost a year later because they can't get the door. Not 1 single door for this car in the entire U.S.

Time to start looking into salvage yards for a door. Still has to be painted anyway.

If you paid even halfway attention to your renewal statements you'd know you're full of it.

Switched from Geico to State Farm a little over a year ago as Geico had gone up bigly and State Farm was about $50/ month cheaper for same coverage. State Farm has gone up a little since then but less than a $10/ month increase.

This is in Oklahoma though.

ts amazing how few people understand the amount of harm those ambulance chasers have done to this state.

When I see all those billboards and commercials of all those sleezy lawyers, and that big G on an office building in Baton Rouge, I want to vomit. They really screwed over our state. Sadly either those at the Capitol don’t realize this, or they actually do but they are in bed with those same attorneys.

From what I gathered, one personal injury firm has a business model that relies on getting quick small amounts of money by threatening to sue the insurance company for millions or settle for 8 to 20 grand. They are more concerned with a high volume of settlements rather than substance of a true settlement or judgement. The insurance companies write the check to make them go away. I am sure that they all operate like this.

It is disgusting.

Same and I was with GEICO for 12 years. Hopefully Progressive stays cheaper.

yeah you gathered wrong. Seems our soon to be ex-insurance commissioner was just in front of the legislature promising that if only the resident geniuses up there would just pass the latest and greatest "tort reform" bill would surely positively drive down rates. Just give up collateral source, jury threshhold, and by golly rates will go down.

and here we are.

also it is rare the case that i have seen an insurer write a check to get a claimant "to go away." they fight cases--particularly causation--tooth and nail and we only have a year to either settle or file. then once defense gets it there is a perverse incentive for them to keep the file open as that is how you get billables. not that i blame them. the billing rates are shitt.

Louisiana state law allows for too much litigation.

TORT law reforms are sorely needed in this state.

LABI and the insurance industry bought your politicians . They all promised legal reforms would reduce your insurance rates...

The consumers in Louisiana got screwed again.

they have to pay for all of those celebrities they use in commercials. isn't that why you buy their insurance, because Maholmes and Kelsie use it!
