I had no problem getting my roof replaced with USAA. I only asked for an inspection because everyone on my street got new roofs. And sure enough I got one too. Pretty damn easy. Didn’t even know I had damage

I had renters insurance through USAA a few years ago when I liven in on post housing. Some kids broke in and raided my humidor of around 100 cigars. USAA gave me $15 per cigar with no receipts or anything
What a weird thing to raid. How do you know they were kids and not some 60 year olds?

The whole time he was here he kept telling me what “real” hail damage looks like and said what I had wasn’t. He wasn’t taking any pictures of anything so I pointed out what I believed to be damage

I remember you posting the pics... 1st adjuster was in fact correct.

I have USAA. Had two separate hail storms at my house. After the last one which also blew off several shingles I called a roofer to look at it. He said definite hail damage call insurance. USAA rep said no hail damage. Called another roofing company to inspect roof. Guy said definitely hail damage and roof needs replacing. Called USAA again. They sent out another inspector and he said little damage but not bad. Neighborhood across street had every single roof replaced by insurance after last storm. That was with 5 different insurance companies. And yes I talked to every single homeowner in the neighborhood. I paid for my new roof out of my own pocket. Roof was 9 year old 35 yr architectural shingles.

If you cannot tell. I’m still a little bitter.

I have USAA...Back in 2017 I had the top of a pine fall onto my roof puncturing it and allowing rainwater in. They never even sent an adjuster. They just had me pick a company from their list to do the repairs then sent them a check for everything minus my deductible.

Misery loves company. Sometimes I think I'm the only person in Alabama to actually pay for my own roof.

Just did it last year.

I was getting a roof quote and the roofer said I had damage, to call the insurance company, and even prepped me to ask for another adjuster if the first one denied.

First one denied. My roof was pretty old so I didn't fight it.

Lots of stories of people knocking on doors. Seems like a lot of fraud in this business. I'm surprised the insurance companies don't push back harder.

Maybe you should switch carriers and tell them why. Sounds like you had a stronger case than I did. But I should consider switching as well.

A brand new roof doesn’t cost that much.

$36k on a nice sized Victorian.

Same experience, different company. Obvious damage, large dings to metal pieces (I’m a chick, forgive me for not knowing terminology). Adjuster came out, insurance calls me and offers $42 to replace the metal pieces. So, it hit those pieces, but not the shingles, hmm? We fought it, they send out a second guy. Chalk marks everywhere. Bam, brand new roof.

I've been a USAA member for a VERY long time...the customer service isn't what it used to be. I really don't like the direction the present leadership has gone with the company with all the television advertising and opening membership as wide as they have.

No BS...Around 20 years ago I had my car broken into and had stereo, cd case, etc stolen. USAA had me drop off my car and got everything fixed no problem.
The CD case that was stolen was one of those 100 cd holder books style cases. USAA asked me for a list of cds that were stolen. I just went thru the cases in my apartment and if the case was empty I wrote it down thinking they’d cut me a check for fair value. About a week later I got a box delivered with a brand new CD of everything on the list I sent them. Even hard to find ones and full box sets when I was missing partials. It was pretty awesome.

We do everything thru USAA. Banking, insurance, financial planning, etc.

I had similar problems with USAA in 2018 after Hurricane Michael passed through Fayetteville, North Carolina. Very disappointed with their lack of customer service. And I have banked (and had my insurance) with USAA since 1991.

You priced any roofing jobs lately?
Got a quote a couple of months ago for mine and it was 19,500.
Cost me $4800 when we built the house in 2004-2005.

USAA is by far superior to any other company I’ve dealt with. You may pay a little more, but they truly are no hassle.

My dear old live oak split in half and took out my roof and chimney. After our 2k deductible, we’ve gotten a new roof, fireplace and all other damages repaired. USAA rules when it comes to insurance.

I had State Farm replace mine after Gustav in 2008. $16K back then. 1 inspection and done.

Serious question. I have an elderly buddy that has dealt with them extensively. Any time he is asked if he was in the service, he just says "82nd". He has bought a few trucks, with them financing. They always get him a great deal, without him having to negotiate with a dealer.

My question is, is this across the board, for all?

USAA replaced my roof for hail back in 2008 in Georgia. My experience was just like you described. USAA paid for a full replacement minus the deductible. Others in the neighborhood were not so lucky and not happy with their insurance company.
