Right there with you. Wife (no pics) took our rescue mutt to be put down this morning. She had multiple cancerous tumors, including a splenic one that had ruptured. She's not suffering anymore.
On a side note - humans suck. We got Simba because her owner was an addict and used the dog (via vets) to get pills for her habit. God only knows how much horrific shite that dog endured to satisfy her owner's drug habit.

So sorry for your loss. Letting a family member go can be one of the toughest things one can do. No matter how merciful we might think it is, it never makes up for the hurt. Done it twice this year myself. Still kills me every time I think about it.

Sorry for your loss, losing a beloved pup is very hard emotionally and I hope you are OK. We lost our pointer/pittie mix at 12 years to liver cancer 2+ years ago who was awesome and thought I would lose my smaller 14 YO whippet/pittie mix last month but she was able to rebound. Pitties and mixes are great companions no matter what some small brain people think.

He was so loyal, and attached to me at the hip. I didn’t realize that everything I did at home had to account for him. He’d find a way to get as close to me as possible while I ate. Hopped in the bed whenever he wanted. Had to sit next to me on the couch. Everything.

I think this depends on how much love you give back. My Golden is my shadow. And I'm retied so we are together all the time. But mine loves the exterminator and everyone else.

It’s a terrible hurt. My condolences. But I’m glad that pup got to live a nice long happy life with you.
