Cool story, sis.

Happy Birthday to your grandma!

And to think, she was almost 20 yrs old when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

My mom passed when she turned 95. Up until the last few mths, she was fully conscious & aware of her surroundings. My sister had the brilliant idea to hand her a tape recorder & over a period of a few weeks, Mom taped her life story. Obviously there were some gaps & I am sure some parts left uncovered, but we now have several hours of Mom telling her life story in her own words. Just her talking about all the now - every - day- things that had been invented during her life time was remarkable & highly entertaining. Numerous copies have been made & this will be a family heirloom to be passed down to all the following generations yet to come.

she was from the area of Tennessee where parts were made for the Atomic Bomb .. she was an employee at a facility there but had no idea at the time what her job was, other than to watch gauges .. she she was an operator before operators were a thing.

That's really cool. I recently watched a show about the operators at that facility.

My great grandmother passed when she was 94 and I was 20. The stories she told have always stayed with me. Including some dude in Algiers offering her .25 which was the going rate for hookers in 1920ish.

Congrats to your family and Happy Birthday to her!!

I only new one grandparent and she died when I was in the 2nd grade.

My mom’s oldest sister lived to be 100. She was a nurse in the Philippines during the island hopping retaking of the islands.

One of my greatest memories was watching her show my mom all the islands she served on using an interactive map at the WW II museum in NOLA.

I hope she gets her face on a Smucker's Jar. My wife (no pics) has stated for several years her goal is to reach 100 and get her face on a Smucker's Jar. It's a Today show thing. Look it up and help your Grandmother get her Smucker's Jar Picture.

Thanks y'all ... and I wish I knew what her secret was. As far as I've ever seen, she's never smoked and had a glass of wine here and there.

Had bypass surgery in 1997 and hasn't had a day of bad health since. As far as I know she's never had covid either.

Wish I had her genes .. I often have to remind myself that I don't.
